flsprtsgod mentioned that we picked ETN at 27 in the first round.

Let's face it. He's right. He was right. We didn't need a RB in the late first round. It's Baalke that made trash decisions for years now. Why are we trying to believe that some how Baalke is going to become a genius all of a sudden.

If Baalke is the GM for 2025's free agency and 2025's draft picks, the tacks, tin horns, and clots will out perform us.

Was ETN a Baalke pick or an Urban Meyer pick?

I always thought it was the latter given the reports that Urban really wanted Toney but had to settle for ETN.

Watch it yourself, pal.

You're the one misrepresenting their words, not me.
I legit don’t care to rewatch it. It was bad.

So did they specifically admit to certain mistakes or not?

They said things like “we have to be better” but that just blowing hot air. Shad saying “we were too predictable on offense and defense” is a direct shot at coaching. He didn’t take direct shots at anyone else.

LOL

I mean - basic logic and obvious context tells you that Baalke is accepting blame for bad free agent signings and Shad is accepting blame for believing Doug would correct whatever went wrong in the later half of 2023 - and that he and his new DC could improve the defense.

Did you need them to make a list of mistakes for you to feel good about it?

I can't believe the owner just humiliated the crap out of the GM on that Zoom with beat reporters and you lot are still all in on this silly "worm tongue" horse [BLEEP] like this is some soap opera or something.

Trent had to sit there and listen to his boss say outright that he'd move on from him if a coach he liked could convince him it was a good idea TO BRING IN A DIFFERENT GM

LOL

Plus Khan didn't give an extension to Baalke nor commit to needing to for any reason. So even if Baalke stays on for 2025, it may basically be a prove it year.

I'm starting to like Aaron Glenn more and more.

Personally, after watching an offensive minded head coach for 3 seasons...I'm leaning a little away from wanting an offensive minded HC again.

Brandon Scherff is no longer that dude.   Next season I want him gone.

It' doesn't matter.  It's not going to make any sense until Baalke is gone
Rumor (and again, just a rumor) that Ben Johnson was initially out for the Jags because he didn’t want to be with Baalke.

Then Khan and Ben Johnson’s agent talked and he flipped. Now he’s interviewing.

Again. Just a rumor.
That would make sense with him not interviewing until Saturday. It's also believable that the Jags didn't have a list of candidates and waited late on Tuesday to request any interviews.

Robert saleh hiring would be a mistake

Only would accept him as DC

I heard on the radio that Ben Johnson has a record as a poor interviewee. I don't know how much difference it makes, but apparently that is a weakness of his.

9 coaches now we are rumored to interview, or try to interview at least.

There's a report that the Jaguars have requested an interview with Vikings DC Brian Flores.

The article also states that Robert Saleh and Aaron Glenn have accepted their interview requests from the Jaguars.

Why not just objectively point out his actual mistakes?

The objective point of view sees around 5 gaping holes in the roster, underperformance from the players, poor gameplans from the offensive staff, a complete and utter cluster [BLEEP] from the defense from the coordinator all the way down to the back-up safety (and free agents acquired to fit the scheme!), lack of player development, inability to get rookie players online quickly, and general inconsistency everywhere on the filed in a league that requires an elite level of consistency to succeed.

How do you pin that on one guy??

You can't.

Probably part of the reason Khan is still leaving the door open to make changes in the front office.

I’m not pinning it all on Baalke.

Doug sucks too. They both suck.

However, do you see the same patterns in SF creeping up in Jacksonville? Disconnect between HC and GM with the GM blaming the HC for all the problems?

The press conference was all Shad and Trent blaming Doug for the entire downfall and taking no accountability. That’s a snake.

I think we all agree that both sides had a hand in this demise. I would pin more of the blame on Baalke than Doug but they both suck and both should be fired (hopefully Trent will be as well).

In the very first question asked to Trent, he says in part:

"We didn't win enough games, and I don't shy away from that.  I'm just as responsible as anyone else."

That’s easy for him to say, he still has a job.

True but Shad was also being very stupid or deliberately so when he was asked about 'a clean slate' and took that as firing the medical department. Everyone knows what a clean slate means and I don't personally think he meant if a HC came in and said they couldn't work with Baalke then he's fired. He said they'd talk through why they felt that way and I think he was talking about better ideas as in terms of behind the scenes people.

Bunch of mumble jumble smoke screens until it is official. I rather a coordinator who hasn't become a HC before. Not a retread.

It's turning into the same as last time. Cast a very wide net, take a long time to interview everyone, take longer to make choices, do round 2, and finally make a decision after other teams have made their hires.

Way too early to make that claim. It's only day 2, and no other team has made any decision.

Plus given the hiring discrimination case still open against the league, every team is going to take their time to not provide any ammunition for the plaintiff.

Khan isn't [BLEEP], I think he knew exactly what people were asking clean slated , he was just playing dumb because he knew it meant Baalke and Baalke was on the call. Khan knows people want Baalke gone.

It is all stupid. If you are going to take blame be specific. Like yeah there is no switch from a 3-4 to 4-3 that takes place in an off season. The draft has to funnel players that fit the system.

GM turned a blind eye to an impossible task or doesn't understand talent acquisition with an eye to vision for a team.

Nope coaches suck.

But this is what makes the whole thing come off so ridiculous. He's keeping Baalke, Baalke will be a consultant in the HC hire. The HC will report to Shad like Baalke will. That sounds pretty much what Baalkes job has always been so he's not lost any responsibilities or seen his role diminished from this season.

But if the new HC doesn't want him then he's gone. Does that mean we're after a new GM? Hiring whoever the HC wants? Is Shad making any decisions by his ideas?

I know I'm probably overthinking it but it just feels once again we have to do it our own special way whereas the rest of the league does it the same way.

If the last winner from NC came in the oughts, maybe we should be looking to other states for our football prowess.
