Still doesnt beat Greg Jones stomping on Sean Taylor's chest in the Orange Bowl.

I just noticed that Werner was playing 11lbs lighter in the pros than he measured in at the combine. I wonder if we'll try to get him back up to that weight because he was never going to be a speed rusher and that added weight could help his strength.
Quote:Hughes is a better athlete than Werner and from what Indy fans are saying, Werner didn't have the technique to overcome his lackluster athleticism. This may well be true, but part of the coaching mandate is to impart proper technique. They had the better athlete in Hughes and still got nothing out of him. I don't expect a world beater with Woerner, but again, it's worth a shot to find out. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
He was truly a 4-3 DE and not an OLB so maybe he'll perform better .. but it does take time to learn the playbook...
i dunno.. probably won't even raise an eyebrow in preseason but we could be surprised. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
He was Bjorn at night, but not last night?
Quote:Bjorn again in Jax?.... No?... Ah, forget it. “Motivation alone is not enough. If you have an idiot and you motivate him,now you have a motivated idiot.” Jim Rohn
His name in German is Björn Werner. In English since we don't have the ö, you can spell that either Bjorn or Bjoern to approximate how it sounds when a German speaker says the name.
Werner, on the other hand, we have all of those letters so just leave it alone. But remember, it sounds like Verner.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

At least his name is fun to say with a completely contrived sort of Scando-Germanic accent.

Bjoern Werner offered some thoughts about his opportunity with the Jaguars:
Bjoern Werner excited to be a defensive end again http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/201...end-again/ Quote:Bjoern Werner offered some thoughts about his opportunity with the Jaguars: So LEO it is.

That's what I thought was odd when the Colts drafted him. He totally seemed like a 4-3 end. And they're a 3-4 team. I could see Bosa having potentially the same problem.
Im actually high on this guy. I hope he can turn it around here.
If you think I offended you, don't worry, I meant to. #facts

And they're a 3-4 team. I could see Bosa having potentially the same problem.I could see if they blitzed him all the time. But what I can't understand is why teams get down linemen, stand them up, and expect them to drop effectively in coverage instead of having them do what they do best-rush the passer. The only team I can recall having consistent success doing that was New England. McGinest, Vrabel, and Tedy Bruschi were all college defensive linemen who managed good careers as non predominately blitzing 3-4 LBs. Sure they all blitzed from time to time, but they dropped into coverage a fair amount of time too. I'm betting that's contributing to Clowney's struggles as well. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Quote:I could see if they blitzed him all the time. You know the saying "Just get the best football players and worry about where to play them and line them up later"? Maybe teams should consider scheme fit more heavily....

Admittedly I'm excited to see what Werner still pocess w/respect to playing the DE position. As many has said Werner was playing out of position to which it didn't pan out for him. Signing him and the possibility that he makes the 53 Man Roster only means that Caldwell will have to make an tough decision of whom to release on the depth chart. This too will be a good thing though...
NH3...
