One thing I will say about Caldwell is throughout the past 4 years I have, openly, questioned Gus. But I have not once questions Dave. I've just always had confidence in him and its

Always been apparent just what a difference he has made

To this team.

 

Dave had his misses (which all GMs do) but his sucess has far outweighed his downfalls.

 

Gerhart & Beadles was Dave's worst FA acquisitions by far.

I thought he also let players go that still had something to offer ... but perhaps that was part of a tanking plan.

 

The day he got a 6th round pick for Gabbert is the day that I elevated him to elite status.

The not picking up the 5th year option says everything that needs to be said.  Anything that comes from Caldwell after is virtually meaningless.  Unless Joeckel firmly entrenches himself at LT this year by clearly outplaying the competition in Beachum, he won't be here in 2017.

 

Dave just said to Joeckel: "Train is leaving the station.  Run, get on it."
