Quote:IMO 49ers and Coughlin would be a very good fit for both.

Just a few years left, and a team that could turn around quickly.

They recently interviewed him IIRC. Other candidates include Chip Kelly and Mike Shanahan, but I am not sure how interested they are in those guys. Tom Coughlin should be the front runner IMO.

Based on his reaction to the owner after his press conference...my opinion is it's a safe bet to say he was told to resign or they would have to let him go.

I hope it will not be too long before Tom Coughlin gets another job.

Did you see the press conference? Coughlin walked right passed Mara (I think it was) and didn't shake his hand. I have a feeling Tom wasn't happy with the results.

I would welcome Tom back in an advisory role if he doesn't get a coaching gig.

There was also another report this morning that mentioned Patriots O/C Josh McDaniels is a strong possibility to become the new Tennessee HC:

After two interviews with the Eagles, Tom Coughlin turned down that job.

The Titans are still considering Teryl Austin, Doug Marrone, and Mike Mularkey.

Local reporters are saying Mularkey, but McDaniels would make way more sense due to the Belichick connection.

Josh McDaniels would make more sense because Mike Mularkey sucks.

Interesting that 3 teams promoted from within this year. And the Eagles are kind of going back to their andy reid days with one of his coordinators.

49ers and browns starting a new. .... again.

Not only that, but Doug Pederson was Donovan McNabb's backup. Eagles fans booed him when he was the starter because they wanted to see their rookie QB. Pederson was happy to get out of Philly after that LOL.

Jim Caldwell is safe in Detroit.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...head-coach

Quote:For (Bob) Quinn, this is not the worst way to begin his tenure, even if he did not get to select his own head coach. Team owner Martha Firestone Ford wanted to keep Caldwell all along, and Quinn can now focus on other aspects of his job for a year while he gets a true evaluation of a coach that has a winning record in Detroit.
