The mujaheddin were supported by our CIA in their fight against the Russians, and they evolved into the Taliban, who harbored Bin Laden. That was Reagan. Al Qaeda turned their sights on us after the Saudis allowed us to build bases in their country in the buildup to the first Gulf War. That was Bush.

 

You are delusional if you think things would be different had Carter stormed our embassy in Tehran, and you're sadly misinformed if you think what we're dealing with today is solely the result of Carter's and Obama's policies.

You're right, the Wahhabi movement began in the 18th century, but really gained ground in the late 19th century. The military history between Islamist and Christian states is relevant, but what we're dealing with now is different.

I agree and disagree with your statement.  I fixed the first part for you.  Also, as far as the Saudis prior to the first Gulf War, they asked the U.S. and our allies for protection against the Iraqi's after the invasion of Kuwait in 1990.

The Israeli military has a history of responding to a suicide bomber by firing rockets into Palestinian villages and towns, knowing that innocent people would be killed. Responding to terrorism by knowingly murdering innocent civilians makes the Israeli government a regime that sanctions and uses terrorism to suit its ends. Hence, the Israeli government and military--not it's people, so let's not even go there--are terrorist thugs.
