These posts are from "On to the Jaguars" in the Ravens 24x7 forum. This is the first time I have not read any blowout predictions from opposing fans.

 

I'm kinda worried about this one. Their wrs are the first duo since Moss and Welker in '07 to start off with 600+ yards and 6 TDS apiece over the first 8 games. That could spell trouble for our secondary.

 

It will be a tough game down to the wire but I believe the Ravens will find a way to win.

 

It's going to be a light show, for the worse. Bortles goes for 400+. I'm telling you now.

PFFs grades after the Jets game

Despite being under pressure on 46.9% of his dropbacks and eventually losing the game, quarterback Blake Bortles (+6.3) had a really solid outing yesterday. Accounting for drops and throwaways, Bortles was accurate on 77.8% of his passes. It was especially impressive how accurate he was on downfield passes. He completed 7 of his 11 pass attempts when throwing more than 20 yards downfield. In addition, Bortles proved to be a dual-threat option yesterday and picked up 30 yards on three scrambles.

– The fact that Bortles’ great performance was not enough for the win might have to do with the Jaguars’ non-existent running game. Excluding a 45-yard run, T.J. Yeldon (-2.4) ran for 19 yards on 13 carries and forced only one missed tackle on these attempts. It is important to note that Yeldon really did not have a chance to get started yesterday as he was constantly hit in the backfield by Jets defenders. Again, excluding the big run, all 19 of Yeldon’s rushing yards came after contact, which shows how the Jets front seven dominated the Jaguars’ offensive line.

You can definitely see it from a talent standpoint.  Not that it's a perfect roster by any means but there's enough raw talent here to beat teams like the Ravens.  They just have to clean up the mistakes that have been hurting them in so many games this season.

I thought Cyprien looked really good on Sunday. My problem is, he'll do it a couple of games then look like he has his head firmly implanted between his butt cheeks the next. I hope he can keep up the good work.


Unfortunately, this defense isn't going to be very good until we develop a pass rush. And that, in all likelihood, won't happen this year.

You're right. This is no automatic win. We keep talking about how close we are. Well, the Ravens have been talking about how close they were since week 1. Week after week the Ravens have been as close as it gets to winning games...

• Week one they dropped a game-winning TD in the final seconds against the Broncos.
  
  
• Week two they beat the Raiders; only a penalty in the end zone called it back and gave the game to the Raiders.
  
  
• Week three came down to the wire as they went back-and-forth with the Bengals depending solely on who ended up with the ball last.
  
  
• Week four they beat the Steelers.
  
  
• Week five they lose by a FG in OT to the Browns.
  
  
• Weeks six they lose by five points to the 49ers after a hail mary falls incomplete in the end zone.
  
  
• Week seven they had their ugliest loss of the year losing by eight to the Cards.
  
  
• Week eight they responded by beating the Chargers.
  
  
• Week nine was their bye week.
  
  

 

I'm not saying they Ravens win this, but they just might put up a tougher fight than many in this thread are expecting.
