1010xl is saying Julius Thomas could miss time

If I had the possibility of having my fingers look like Torry Holt, I'd have the surgery. That dude's digits were absolutely warped.

I say less than .500 in the win column. . Even Rodgers will miss his best receiver, Nelson, this year, and regardless who is catching the ball, he will not equal last years stats. Take Brown away from Roethlesberger. A great QB could overcome some odds... And when BB becomes one, then we will talk. In the meantime... Your call...what's the bet? I'm with under .500. 8-8 would be a draw...heck I'll even pay up on an 8-8. Modis building? Why? After the last few years immunity has set in.
Blakes Life Matters
Quote:JagIbelieve... I was referring to your comment about the absence of Lee and Thomas. I agree that the absence of Thomas is going to be a hit (in my mind a minor hit) going forward with Blake's development, but I don't see the absence of Lee in the same way. Don't get me wrong, I am really wanting Lee to develop into a star in this league, but I see too many people put him up the depth chart as being an "important" aspect of this offense. I refuse to think that until he can remain healthy, stay on the field for multiple games and actually perform. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.

I understood your point completely. I included Lee in the discussion for a few reasons: 1. It looks like he will miss that Carolina game; 2. He was drafted relatively high (early-mid second round just last year) with the idea his speed can help Bortles and the offense. While he has had difficulty adjusting to the NFL and has injury issues, I don't think the team has completely abandoned him yet. I can understand your reluctance to put him in the same category as Thomas. Thomas has produced at a high level in the NFL. Lee hasn't yet. But I think he still has the speed that can potentially help this team, and I think the offense will miss that speed. Can it possibly be productive without these guys? Yes. If the team can keep Bortles upright and run the ball, I think with the personnel currently healthy on the offense, the offense could be productive if what appears to be Bortles' ascent into future elite passer is legitimate. But without Thomas and Lee, it can be a little more daunting. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

Well this sucks. I don't understand how hand surgery will keep him out that long though... If he gets surgery tomorrow, then he'd have 13 days before the regular season opener, and its really going to take three more weeks after that??? We needed JT in the offense, badly.
Quote:Marks, Thomas, Lee, Fowler will all be on the sidelines for week 1. It sounds like Marks and Lee should be ready to go.

Quote:4-5 weeks would put him back around game 3-4. Might as well wait 'til week 5 since they don't stand much of a chance in Indy regardless.

Quote:I don't see this as being a huge deal. Clay Harbor and Marcedes Lewis have both been looking good. Get him healthy for when it really matters. Its a pretty big deal.. Julius is on another level with his talent.. Not Gronkowski or Graham but just under them and ahead of the rest. Quote:I didn't want to mention it because of the flames that would be directed my way from the Lewis critics, but he looked really good on Friday night... Nic Jacobs too. I expect Jacobs to be active as long as Julius is out. He looked great vs the Lions.

Maybe if you want to reach his level and consistency you gotta work through a few bumps. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
So, in the tradition of giving players bad nicknames, would naming him Juliglass Thomas be in poor taste? (ducks)
Jaguars Fundamentalist
Quote:Might as well wait 'til week 5 since they don't stand much of a chance in Indy regardless.Eh, it depends on how the season is going. If we're doing really well and looking strong, let him play. Division games are important and if it was possible to beat Indy, I don't see why we would hold him out. If we get stomped in the games leading up to Indy, then yeah, just hold him out.
Sounds like it will be the first quarter of the season at the most.
No pain, no gain.
Lewis looks serviceable this preseason. Also Clay Harbor can still get open and provide running after the catch. Jacobs seems to be primarily a blocking TE but showed good hands against Detroit. If Bortles continues his play into the regular season we have been fine without Thomas but hopefully he returns sooner than later. With how we've looked I could see Pro Bowl numbers for JT in this offense.
No pain, no gain.

Apparently Sept.13th is an unrealistic target date for Marks. Guess we won't have him either.
Quote: Place head against a ball and bang until the Jaguars stop getting hurt.... aaaagh going to be another long season...
For what it is worth, A lot of Denver fans seemed happy to get rid of Thomas because he was always hurt. It is a shame we are already facing these issues before he has even caught a meaningful pass.
I don't think it is too far fetched to say Dave Caldwell's drafts have been WAY better than his free agent moves. It almost seems like a different person is doing the draft and free agency. |
