"We're further along than we anticipated" Bradley on offense

#81

Quote:I urge both sides to calm down.  The sky is falling crowd and the Bortles for league MVP.

It's preseason so hard to know what it will be like when the real shots are fired coming next month.

Could you point out which ones are the Bortles for league MVP people?  Because I sure as hell don't see them.

Quote:This is the most in sync I've seen this offense since David Garrard. Everyone agrees we need to score TD's instead of field goals and receivers need to start catching the ball. No one is debating that. What people are seeing is a lot of progress. We typically went 3 and out. Now we are putting 10 play drive after 10 play drive and moving the ball down field. Those are good things. The scheme is working. And Bortles is making throws in tight windows. The opportunities are there. Now we have to take advantage of them. But again, this is not what you said TC. You started the thread about the game stats using 2nd and 3rd stringers to make your argument. Only amateur fans look at game stats to evaluate how their team is doing in the preseason. The same fans who are upset when we lose a preseason game.
Jt I respect your post right up to where you accuse me of of saying something I never said. You make a nice point about the non 3 and outs and the longevity of drives. Those are real improvements. However my beef is we've struggled scoring touchdowns in the past and so far that hasn't changed. In my original post I used the box score to show that the Giants crappy offense dominated every category over our supposed improved offense. I never said anything about 2nd and 3rd stringers. Over all we still cannot consistently find the endzone. That's a real problem. Anyone that debates that is closing there eyes and pretending it's not there.

Bottom line the first unit needs to score tds and they have not down they can do that.

So you're admitting that the offense has improved. And you want them to be 'consistent'....in a little over two quarters of football. You do realize that it's not always about scoring points IN PRE-SEASON? I think the overwhelming majority of us can see that the offense has improved a great deal. But, some people just can't see the forrest for the trees.

Honestly it's been off season workouts, mini camps. Otas, training camp now 2 pre season games. Yes I want to see more. Why is that a bad thing. Why is mediocrity accepted here.

By the way it's always about scoring points. What the heck do you think there in there to do? Dance?

This is jmo.  Anything a coach says at a press conference is irrelevant.  It's not what they really think.  It's all for show.

What if the opponent has a very bad defense?  Does that mean that the team has progressed to be playoff contender in your opinion?

Is there a prize for being the first to panic?

Two whole quarters in the preseason and the offense isn't clicking...

I guess talking football and discussing desired improvements is panic. I'm not in panic dummy it's a dang game. I just don't get where the coach gets off on saying there further along when we cant score touchdowns.

I hope you are sitting down for this. Perhaps, and this is a wild guess, he thinks the offense is further along than he anticipated. Despite one TD for the first team offense.

Are you asking a what if we score repeatedly against a poor defense would I view our offense as playoff caliber? Because if that's what your asking then I think it's safe to say I wouldn't worry about that. Right now.

Thanks for the clarification. It's pretty sad. Gonna be another long season.

Yeah, imagine how they feel in New England.  After two full quarters in the preseason their starting offense has not put up a single point.

Given that we know all there is to know about an offense after preseason week 2.. they are doomed.
