Boselli a HOF finalist! - merged

Quote:You could not be more wrong. Green Bay is the smallest market in all professional sports and has the second-most representatives in Canton. So being in Jacksonville obviously has nothing to do with it. The "limited career" complaint is crap. Have you ever thought about how many other players get in the HOF after short careers? One of them is Packers RB Paul Hornung. Yep - a very small market and injury-shortened career, but he got in because he deserved it. No excuses to keep Tony Boselli out of Canton. Who said we dont want Tony in? At least we are real fans. Let me ask you this? If it is not a small market right? Explain why Fred? Jimmy? Brunell? McCardell? Brackins? DD? Are not in. Why is there as of yet. No one from Jax in? I have no doubt had Fred went to NE and had close to a thousand yards. He would all ready be in HOF. Because Jax is a small market. And unlike your beloved Green Bay. Which has 120% support for the team. And has been around since what 1920? 1940? Something like that. Compared to 2005? Yea... Know ya history. And do some research first.

I bet if i told ya. Prior to Jags. The Saints, Cards, and dare I say it clots. Almost were first teams in Jax.
And the Pats was one day short from moving to Hartford. Which benefited Uconn regardless to become a division 1 team. But yup. I know nothing.

JW, do you realize that while Green Bay is a small market they are one of the fan bases with the most fans in the NFL? It's bandwagon central over there, hence why you're a fan of that team.

That has nothing to do with Green Bay being a small market team. It just means they have more fans than anyone else outside of North Texas.

For once I agree with TTR. Having a small market is typically pointed out when your potential fan base is relatively small. Well in Green Bay is a special case. They had tremendous success early on in the leagues history and it brought them a lot of fans and support, those good players even with shortened playing years had a better chance of getting into the HOF.
If Boselli was a Steeler he would be a lock for the HOF, but because he's a Jaguar it's much more of a struggle. If all things were equal, Boselli is a Hall of Famer. When you compare him to tackles of his time like Willie Roaf, Richmond Webb or Jonathan Ogden, Boselli was just as dominate as any of them. He handled hall of fame defensive ends on his own, and dominated them. They've even made comments recently that they were dominated by him.

Taylor was frustrated.

Quote:What I think is overrated are okay to good players who have very very long careers and get lots of stats but who were never the top of anything in their careers. Hines Ward comes to mind. He never led the league in anything, never a first team all pro, more sub 1000 yard years than 1000+ but he did this for like 12 years during the most pass happy era in NFL history and this guy is being considered for the HoF? It's basically the same career stats as Derrick Mason. That could easily be Freddie T as well though. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Might be wrong here but it seems to me that Boselli has a decent backing in the media for the HOF. Still a long shot to go in but national media seems to be at least recognising that he isn't a pure outsider for the HOF

Would be cool to have our first Jag in the HOF. We'll see. ![]()

Quote:Boselli would be the best tackle in Steelers history... He is the best tackle in Jaguars history.

They've been around for a LONG, LONG time, they're extremely ingrained into the NFL fabric. There's a HUGE difference between Green Bay and Jacksonville even though they're both considered small markets.
JW, you completely ignore certain posts and then pick and choose things to respond to. It's interesting.

The problem here is people want to ignore the fact that how long a team has been in business and another team's former player still waiting to get in the HOF are completely unrelated. |
