Bengals head coach actually announced Brandon Allen will be starting in week 2 versus the Cowboys, citing the game is going to fast for Burrow right now.

Notice Cam gets destroyed, Bartch does absolutely nothing, Fortner gets bull rushed to the ground which takes out Scherff. 3 of our OL on the ground as soon as Lawrence hits the last step of his drop back... Not good.

Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't those essentially the backup defensive linemen since 2 were declared out for Game 1 and one other DL got hurt during the game.  That would mean that 3 of their 4 starters were out in the 2nd half.

I watched the game from an outdoor bar so between the drinks and atmosphere, I didn't catch a lot of the actual verbal broadcast.

Uhh, no.

I think we will beat Indy because of our DL on their OL, but I do not think Lawrence is the answer we need at QB.
You know you're dealing with a belief system when you get an emotional response.

It would be nice to see Trevor use his legs more.

Totally agree. He had a few opportunities to pick up ~15 yards on his feet but chose to stay in the pocket.

Uhh, no.

Yep --- Packers are finally transitioning to Jordan Love as well, who tweeted out Rogers is looking more like the 2021 version of Rothlisberger last night.

I mean... Right from the jump he gets no help. If the Oline does their job for once, probably a big gain to Engram.

I think the most mind boggling thing to me of this era of Jags suckage is that we have had 3 straight regimes who have thought Cam Robinson is good enough at LT. Not just good enough to keep around and see how he develops, but good enough to give two franchise tags and then a big long term deal. Just bewildering.

You think that is mind boggling that 3 different regimes thought Cam Robinson is good enough to play LT, what about the fact that Whoopie Goldberg has been married 3 different times.  Yes, 3 different people thought Whoopie was good enough to be their wife.

I was hoping Olinematters would come back to the board after the season started, but that display of Oline play yesterday ensures he’ll hold us in even deeper contempt.

I thought Whoopie liked girls?

Disagree on that play.  I counted to 3 before a hand got on him.  3 seconds is all you can hope for most of the time.  He likely held on too long here, but perhaps no one was open or going to be.  Marvin wasn’t open when he threw the ball or even looked like he was about to get open.  Fortunate to draw the flag there, but I don’t view that clip as an indictment of the o-line.  Sometimes opposing coverage is just good.

To add, would we like to see better play from the o-line? Sure, but he either waited too long to let the play develop or we need more quick read plays called. Don’t get me wrong. Would love to see a vertical passing game that consistently is able to sit in the pocket and hit guys down field. I don’t think we’re there yet, but it felt like a lot of those types of plays were called yesterday.

I don't think TL is at "replace him" level, but you have to admit the tendencies are set and it doesn't look good.. That was a BAD secondary yesterday... I mean banged up defense + suspect secondary and he had 1/1 TD:INT with 57% completion. That might be the worst secondary he sees all year barring injuries to other defenses(tbf its not 100% Trevor's fault had 1 td dropped). We have a lot of football left, it's super early, but all indications point to very little growth from #16. I can see why Doug wanted to throw all day, TL just didn't deliver.

It was  about 1 1/2 seconds before the pocket fully collapsed and there was pressure in his face.

I think most logical people should have some concerns about Lawrence. 18 games in and has not established he is the franchise. He has to be more consistent.

https://news.yahoo.com/jags-still-waitin...48946.html

The narrative is officially out there with the national media… only Trevor can change it with his play or let this narrative gain steam and define him as a Jaguar

Never mind the coaching is inconsistent, the oline play is garbage and the talent level sucks. What would you like TLaw to do?  We can talk at the end of the season. This franchise is a historical disaster overall.

EDIT:
Overall the team/ownership/front office and all involved are making it tough to be a fan of this team.
Birth of the Franchise - November 30, 1993
Death of the Franchise - November 29, 2011

Fans deserve better. Thanks for all the good times too many are in the past.

I really don't think anyone disagrees with you here. I haven't seen one person say that Trevor has been perfect.

Trevor certainly has things to improve upon and I know there are throws he would like back. I wish he didn't go hail mary toss up on the 3rd down play on the last drive, I wish he had hit ETN on the wheel route for a TD (even though ETN probably drops it....) and I wish the throw to Zay in the endzone was a little more on the money.

However overall, he's going through his progressions really well. He's great at maneuvering the pocket and he has great leadership. He's the guy for sure for me.

+1 from me.

Also, as has been said time and time again, his rookie year was such a disaster. His development was non-existent. Essentially he is almost the same exact player he was when he was drafted, he's JUST beginning to develop now.
