Yeah. I think the general consensus within this community, is that, the offensive line has played relatively well this year. Again, they have only surrendered I believe, a total of just twelve sacks now through nine games. 

That's impressive. I think some of the perceived notions is that it's more than likely a combination of Lawrence making quick decisions with the football in his hands at times as well as some of the play calling and design of Pederson/Taylor/McCoy's coaching styles.

This still is not meant to discredit nor take anything away from this group. It's just facts. Taylor is having a career year. Scherff is exactly who he is and what you paid for and that's why he's here. I think we all know, historically, this franchise seems to get lucky and typically gets two positions right. That being the RB position and the C position.

I liked what I saw out of Fortner coming out of Kentucky. Battle hardened starter, smart between the ears football wise and academic wise and really got his teeth cut working up against the SEC defenses which is just flat out notorious for recruiting some of the biggest, fastest kids this country has to offer. 

I think Fortner will ultimately continue to fall right in behind, on a performance level, up there with Meester and Linder, health permitting of course. The only concerns I think some people have here are on the left side. Whether it's Robinson or the LG position in general. That seems to be the side of the line that has a tendency to get beat a bit or give up quick pressures, etc. 

Again, though, very nit picky. All I hear on a damn near daily basis on a local level, via 1010XL. Between Boselli in the morning, the 1010XL show at 10:00 AM and some of the tail end stuff with Searcy, is that, this unit overall is pretty damn good and doesn't get enough credit at all.

A misleading stat. Trevor has done everything he can to avoid taking sacks, even getting a bunch of intentional grounding penalties. Then if you look at it from a run blocking standpoint he hasn't been a guy that does great, either. From what I've seen Fortner has been a replacement level player so far. Maybe he can improve since he's a rookie and Boselli seems to act like his problems are mostly mental.

Fortner has been bad in protection.

Watching the all22 each week it seems like every week he lets someone by quickly on 3 or 4 pass downs forcing Trevor to be unable to step into a pocket and move laterally to throw.

The unit as a whole is good in the run game (but not as good as ETN makes them look) and bad in the pass game (though Trevor evading sacks well makes them look better than they actually are)

*Taylor has been a very pleasant surprise in his contract year
*Scherff has been money and
* Bartch was mostly good before he went down. 
*Fortner has looked like a rookie in pass pro (he's the 22nd rated Center of 32 starters on PFF FWIW) but run blocked a bit better.
*Shatley has been pretty bad at LG in pass pro, but may be improving a bit under this new coach as he gets more time. I expect this week to be rough for him
*Cam Robinson has been good with the run and inconsistent with the pass pro - has given up pressure on a few plays that ended drives this year including a turnover
 
Lageman and Boselli can paint it however they want. They tend to do that at times. 
But - the left side is a liability too often for this situation to be "good enough" 
If Fortner develops in year 2 as a protector, Bartch comes back strong (maybe with competition from a draft pick) and they retain Taylor, they may be alright in year two working in Pedersons system. 

One thing I agree with Lageman on is that this system of Pederson's is legit. 
The execution has not been great in too many games - but the plays he has installed are quality NFL stuff that can move the ball against good defenses. The OL concepts are part of what's good and Rauscher seems to be doing good things with the players. 
 I want to see a better pocket more consistently. Would be a boon for the young QB.

I'm not so sure. The whole point of a the multiple TE set is to be be very good at running the ball, but guys like Engram and Arnold are not great blockers. Even Manhertz feels like he has not lived up the great reputation he had before coming to the Jags as a blocker. I'm not sure that is an overall win for the Jags. 

Plus for WRs, Zay Jones and Marvin Jones are average to slightly above average and willing blockers.

For a rookie Center that was drafted as the starter, I would say he’s doing his job. All lineman give up pressures and sacks. It’s part of the game.

Fortner is also a “pulling” center which was made famous by the great Dermoti Dawson up in Pittsburgh.

Kid has been right on the money. Fortner is also the only offensive lineman that has took 100% of the snaps.

Taylor has had his best season as a pro and will probably earn an extension. That kick in the pants was all he needed. Robinson ain’t Tony Boselli, but he also ain’t Mike Pearson. Can’t have Pro Bowlers at every position.

Let’s take a look at the penalties

Robinson - 2 false starts and 1 holding
Shatley and Bartch - 1 false start and 0 holding
Fortner - 0 false starts and 2 holding, best rookie olineman?
Scherff - 1 false start and 1 holding, probably heading to 6th PB
Taylor - 1 false start and 1 holding

This unit has given up 12 sacks through 9 games.

The offensive line is also ranked 2nd in the NFL in rush yards before contact. (Pro Football Network)

PFN also ranks the Oline 19th in tier 3 which is middle of the road. Rams are ranked 32 and Philly is ranked 1.

Jags rank 4th rush yards and are tied for 3rd in rush TD. They are 12th in passing yards.

Jags are tied for 1st in NFL with 34 redzone attempts.
