Serious Question: Is Gus Bradley the worst head coach you've ever seen?

Quote:With the exact same roster I'm sure.

Pretty sure those improvements came on the cusp of getting a real starter at QB.

Both on teams pretty well stacked at D already.

Coaching matters, never said it didn't. I just don't sign on to the idea that coaching matters enough to drastically change a record.

The players on the field matter most.

Coaches failing to call time outs, misplaced challenges, bad lineup changes (Gus screwed up benching House for Gratz, imo and had some poor challenges over the years, I agree with that)

He is responsibile for coaches, so Fisch and Babich, all on him.

I even called him out for allowing his DC last season to be SO predictable that BoB dissected us all over in that last game.

BUT... I've never believed the Pats are good because of Belicheat. Or the squeelers because of Tomlin (or Cowher). Players>Plays

But it is all part of the equation. And if Gus isn't getting done, he'll be gone sooner or later.

But bringing in some other guy guarantees nothing. Especially not 4 more wins.

Sorry.

I'm sure Alex Smith was a significant improvement in KC, but not nine wins worth of difference. He's just not that good.

Likewise, Arizona picked up Carson Palmer for a song after he failed in Oakland. It takes a competent coach to use a player correctly.

The Pats won 11 games with Matt Cassel at QB. It wasn't just Brady. Every year Belichick seems to take other teams' discarded players and make them into solid starters.

Maybe coaching wouldn't have made a four game difference with the Jags last year. Maybe it would have. I don't think it's that ridiculous an idea, especially after watching the Jags defense last year.

Replacing Fisch made a difference beyond the improvement in the players on offense (and who knows if they would have improved if Fisch stayed). Babich was atrocious. I'm hoping Wash isn't. I'm hoping the problem last year was Babich, and not Bradley telling Babich what to do.

We'll know a lot more when the games count.

If you think changing coaching 2 weeks before the season starts is better, stick to Atari football

Let's make believe ....

Gus has a goodish year and we stay with him.  Congratulations we have Fisher on the East Coast.  This guy is going to have a serious long tenure without winning.

I'm right on it. Your loyalty as a season ticket holder and valuable football insight is second to none. In fact your MB play calling has been forwarded to the OC.

Now, please suggest a replacement. I'm all ears.

Signed,

Shad

PS

If you know football like you know zits, we may have a position for you. Blake has a few boils on his piss that needs attention.

I don't know the answer to your question, but whenever I see that gif of him jumping around in celebration I wonder why he didn't end up as a career high school coach. I mean, he'd be an amazing high school coach.

Quote:He really makes you miss Del Rio.

Could you imagine del rio with this roster? The only offensive talent he had was jimmy smith, mjd, and taylor. Everyone else was just solid or below average.

Dude brought us 12-4 in year 3. The worst season was 5-11, and i blame that on the trash Gene Smith brought in.

But ... but ... but  ... Del Rio didn't put in a whole 14 hours every day.

Oh no, no. Nothing like that. I actually overheard him during practice. In fact he said it was a real winger dinger of a boil

He is not  head coach material. He is better suited as a DC. He cant get his team to pay 60 minutes. Not even 45 minutes. They never play a full game. Easy for Blake to put up stats when he is always down by 2 scores.

I'd wish they'd scrap the scheme and go back to a traditional 4-3. Something like..

Dline : Yannick-Miller-Marks-Jackson

LB: Telvin-Poz-Fowler..Jack on for Poz in obvious passing downs.

Cb- Ramsey-Prince-House/Colvin

Fs- Gibson

Ss- Cyp

Cut out the zone D. Play an aggressive press man scheme with Fowler being moved around to blitz from LB.

Am I crazy or do I see some good personal for 3-4?

DE's- Jackson, Marks, Odrick

NT- Miller

ILB's- Jack, Poz, Skuta

OLB'- Fowler Jr, Yannick, Davis

I wouldn't really know where to put Telvin though.

Del Rio could coach this team to .500 in his sleep

That's how sad our coachng situation is

I still believe we are towards the end of a 5 year plan.  Too bad with the "extension", we could actually have Bradley for all of the years of that plan.

Quote:This.

If this team looks this sloppy and slow to start a couple into the regular season I'd probably guess there is more to it than "not enough talent"

Toward the end of last season I even joined in on the "time for Gus to go?" line.

DC decided no, and I'm OK with that.

If we can't win at LEAST 8 games this season, we need a change at least just for a change.

What do you mean "just for change"?! Are you inept? If Bradley loses this season, he will have the WORST HC record in HISTORY OF NFL after 4 seasons.

As much as I want the Jags to win and go all the way, my homer-ism can't get in the way of logic.  Bradley has shown this team has not and will not change under him.  After watching that game on Sunday, made me realize it's quit possible this will be another LONG season for us fans.  That in itself just makes me want to vomit.

bahahaha. Belichick has implemented one of the GREATEST systems in history of the NFL. He can plug in scrubs on OTHER teams like Wes Welker, Dion Lewis, Julian Edelman, others and they become VERY productive. Brady got hurt for the entire season and Belichick even got Matt Cassel to (10-6)!!!

Can you see your boy Gus Bradley getting Chad Henne to 10-6?
