It was a fake tweet from earlier. I can't believe the NFL Network fell for it. It happened a while ago too so they've had time to see it was fake.

<p class="" style="color:rgb(41,47,51);font-family:'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;">Despite signing big-ticket TE Julius Thomas, <a class="" href='https://twitter.com/hashtag/Jaguars?src=hash'>#Jaguars</a> don’t plan on cutting veteran Marcedes Lewis. Teams have inquired about a trade, tho

Hmm...curious what the going rate is for Lewis on the block.

I think it could be beneficial to keep Marcedes this season. When was the last time we had two starting caliber (arguably) TE's?

One is a very good Pass Catching TE that cant block.

While the other is a good Blocking TE that is an average to below average receiver.

We had issues in the red zone last year. Having two 6'5"- 6'6" TEs can help that with receiving, and "goaline" package runs in the red zone.

I don't care if you are a Marcedes "lover or hater" I think everyone would agree with the above statements.

To top it off, that 7mil comes off the books Next year to spend on someone else in FA.

I totally agree.   I see no reason to cut the guy except for personal dislike for not living up to his contract.   But right now, we are still 30 million under the cap.   So what good does it do to cut him?   It's not like we need to free up cap room.

I would like to see how Lewis would do with Thomas in 2TE sets. They're both big guys who can win in the jump ball which is a nightmare for redzone defenses.

THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.

RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

The two-TE set - when used well -  certainly creates mismatches in coverage and can also disguise certain runs and read-option stuff.

I have no problem w/ keeping Lewis if they feel they want to focus on this.

However, I forgot to add,

If the right trade opportunity comes a long, lets say a 3rd or 4th for Marcedes. Then I would definitely consider taking it. A 4th rounder would be a solid pickup for him IMHO

The above formation could be lethal!

Allen Robinson

Marquise Lee

Justin Blackmon (hypothetically in shape and still incredibly talented)

all of them on the field, PLUS

Julius Thomas and Marcedes Lewis

+add a Gurley or Gordon

might be the most talented group of players on offense of all time (again talented, not the best, but talented)...

I'm sure they are willing to trade but with his contract and underperforming it's unlikely a team is willing to give up more than a 5th round pick and it's worth more just to keep him and see how he does with the most talent he's ever had around him.
