He won't be rushed back though... He will likely be very very light duty until the season starts...

I would not be surprised to see him start on the PUP just to make sure he comes back 100

Odds probably pretty good you are right with it only being 8/9 months from surgery.

I'd rather er on the side of caution with Marks.

With the addition of Odrick and possibly Leonard Williams, we won't need him to come back before he can really contribute. And it would be best for the remainder of his career I would think

I don't think they'll rush him back, but if he's cleared by the doctors and he's ready to go, I've got no doubt they'll cautiously expand his role.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Not at the price tag he wound up landing in Miami.  Sorry.

Agreed.  Unless it's a proven elite QB, no one person is worth that much.

Miami gave Suh a $25.5M signing bonus, i.e. a check for that amount.

Julius got a $6M check as a signing bonus. He'll get a base salary of $9M for this year.

Odrick got 0 signing bonus. He did get a $5M roster bonus and a base salary of $4M

Pernell got 0 signing bonus. He did get a $5M roster bonus and base salary of $4M

House got 0 signing bonus, but got a $2M roster bonus and a base salary of $4.5M

Basically, the only actual check Khan had to fork up for are the $18M combined signing bonus + roster bonus. That's roughly $6M less than what the Dolphins dumped into Suh in one day (even if you include Skuta's $2M roster bonus).

For six projected starters?

This was smart money by the Jaguars.

We can go in-depth at the actual guaranteed amounts (and in that case the Jaguars may end up higher in spending as you go through the actual contract details), but I think from an owner's perspective regardless how deep your pockets are...there's still a difference in issuing a $26M check as opposed to $6M then the check for the roster bonus at a later day.

Agreed.

Suh is a dominant player, but I don't think he is worth anything close to what Miami paid him in comparison with what we have on the line currently.  He's good, but he's not exponentially better than what we already have, even with Marks coming back from an ACL.

I am very leery of Marks comeback this year after the acl. I think big guys sometimes have a harder time with those. Example the DE from green bay Kampman. We will see. I am a fan of Williams if there at 3.

I hope he comes back 100% but I have my doubts for sure. Glad to hear he is doing well thus far tho.

Williams can add years to the career I'd Marks by allowing him to rotate more frequently until he's 100% confident in himself

We're taking Leonard. We just have to.

We have great depth at LEO, we rotate multiple guys. But every time we put Abry jones and Ziggy Hood on the interior last year it tended to lead to big runs, even if our run D was doing fine otherwise. Moving Williams and Odrick around would really help solve this problem.

Danny Shelton would be a great target too if we move down, and if Leonard was taken I wouldn't hate Shelton at 3 simply because Nose Tackles who can also rush the passer are so rare. Like, Vince Wilfork/Haloti Ngata rare. A huge guy like that, that can singlehandedly stop the run and move linemen out of the way for our pass rushers, helps you in every game no matter how the rest of the team is playing.

I think though it's a bit different for a DT versus a DE/OLB where speed is such a big part of the DE/OLB position.

I wouldn't be too sure of that you still need explosion to be able to play at the level Marks played at last year.  I am not saying he won't play just at what level is the question.  It takes a while to get confidence in that knee back after an ACL and I speak from personal experience.

Bumped for an update:

Quote:The 6-foot-2, 294-pound defensive tackle is right on track in his rehabilitation and should be able to return to the field early in the 2015 season.

<p style="font-family:Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif;font-size:16px;color:rgb(51,51,51);">"It’s been progressing pretty well,” Marks said. “It’s getting better and better every day. I’m going along with the flow, and however it comes about I’m just doing all the work I can. As far as the protocol and what’s on paper, I’m right on schedule of where I’m supposed to be. All that’s great.

<p style="font-family:Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif;font-size:16px;color:rgb(51,51,51);">“I don’t know exactly when the return date is supposed to be. “[Jaguars team physician Kevin Kaplan] hasn’t set a date and I really don’t want to hear a date. I just want to continue to work and get it stronger as every day goes along. I’ll just see how it is when that date toward the season comes."

I think I posted this on this board. I saw him at Publix a month or so ago. He had a brace on but did not seem to have any sort of noticeable limp or anything. It looked like he was moving around better than I would have expected.

God no, that is one player I'm glad we didn't get. He's a risk of being suspended at any time, and his play will not change.

Just give us Fowler please dear lord.
