I like the move. Even if he's eventually passed on the depth chart, he's good depth. 

 

I also agree that Ryan Davis should also be extended. 

 

Branch too, even though that one might be not as popular. 

The Branch suggestion should get a really warm response from the message board GMs.

 

Personally, I think he should be given an extension.  I wouldn't expect to see them let Davis go either.  I think the team will actively look for ways to upgrade the pass rush, but they're not going to let the quality on the roster go just as they're starting to show signs of being an asset to the team. 

 

Miller is a leader on this defense.  That is something this young group needs, and he and Marks are providing it both on the field and off.  You're right.  He may eventually get passed over but he remains solid depth regardless.  He's one of those guys who coaches love having in the locker room.  There are a couple of them on the roster who will stick around because of their ability to step up and lead.

That's a great deal for Miller.

Fair enough for both sides. I hope we bring in more talented bibig men next year though. These big guys can get hurt and all of a sudden there is no one to fill the (massive) void and knows the system.

I think this is a really good move. While bringing in a high profile DT in FA is tempting, I think retaining veteran leaders is what's most important right now. Roy Miller fits that bill, and he's only 27 so he still has some good years left in him.

I like the move too.  I think Miller has been a solid player and he has become a leader for the young guys on defense.  He should be around for a while now so that's one less we need to worry about going forward.

Can't complain. Not a huge contract, and he's part of the reason why our DL is our team's strongest unit.

The fewer positions of concern going into free agency, the better position we're in signing desired free agents.

 

I think a decent FS and offensive lineman will help this team significantly.
