Accountability -- WINSTON GUY CUT

Quote:What did I expect?  We lost by 19 points!  That was our BEST game of the year!  Hell, I'd accept mediocrity.  I'd accept just losing close instead of being humiliated this week.
We lost by 19.... on the road... on the west coast... against one of the best QBs in the league and a potential Super Bowl team.

I'd say we did pretty good!

You've now made me cry and laugh at the same time.  That epitomizes the Jaguars.

OK, so now, since we're playing a 2 time super bowl winning QB, it will be pretty good if we lose to the Steelers by 14.  I'm just coming up with the rationalizing that we will have to use next week.

Possibly Gene's best pick ever.  Think about that for a minute.

Maybe we're the only ones that recall the last few times the Jaguars traveled out west.

For everyone who doesn't, this was the best west coast performance by the Jaguars in years. Maybe the last decade considering the difference in talent between the rosters.

Still not a game that deserves praise.  Hey son, I want to congratulate you for your best grade on your report card....a D in math.

Quote:I think McCray did pretty well too. He gave up the TD but still had pretty good coverage IMO. The throw and the catch were just really good.

Yeah. Rivers did pick on McCray for a few short gains when he came into the game, but the TD was the only big one.  He has an inch away from tipping that pass, so not so bad considering the perfect throw.  McCray has a chance to win that spot if he can play well this week.

It still sucks, but the team played better in that loss than the one to the clots, so…… excruciatingly slow baby steps I guess.

Its improvement. No matter how little. I've never seen a D student go to the Dean's list in one semester. Have you?

At least mine knows how to cover someone, lol....He'll latch on to me and stay within 5 feet of me from the second I get home!  Maybe we're on to something here.

I'm not praising the game's result, but the effort was good and the first half was really good except for the fumble on the opening drive and the defense allowing the TD to the chargers right before halftime.

Quote:Maybe I'm in the minority but how the hell are we still playing musical chairs on the starting roster in week 5 of year 2? Isn't this what the preseason a for? I get it the first year but come on
well one thing to consider is, when a team practices, they practice against their own defense/offense...Both the offense and defense of the Jags are bad...When a bad offense plays a bad defense, they both look good...

3 preseason games isn't enough to completely evaluate the entire roster...It's just enough time to get rid of the players that are quite obviously not NFL caliber, but not enough time to find the best combination of players...sometimes the "best" of what's left after final cuts, still are not good enough, do not develop fast enough, or just don't get/have "it"

If Amelia Gerhart wasn't in year one of a three-year, $10.5M contract, I wouldn't have been the least bit shocked to see him cut after his fumbleriffic performance last week. He's gone down faster than a Lockheed Electra over Howlund Island.

Very well played sir.

I had high hopes for Toby.  I figured we would get Brandon Jacobs / Mike Alstott production out of him.

Or at worst Greg Jones or that goalline back on Carolina- name escapes me at the moment.

That's just like saying, this pile of crap looks and smells better than the pile of crap we found yesterday...The end result is it's still CRAP...It may be better looking crap and stink less, but it's still CRAP

Quote:Proud!? They showed some hope that there will be improvement in the future...but proud!? Can't wait til we get a participation trophy at the end of the year. Bortles will be the QB of the future and I'm very excited about him. What the bleep else is there to be proud about. Good job guys, you didn't lose by 20 this week! Great job, you only let them throw for 377 yards and let their receivers run wide open. I'm not expecting our team to look like a world beater, but I am not proud to lose by only 19. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!? Am I somehow in the minority? Have we been beaten down so bad in the last few years that we can treat a 19 point loss as something to be proud of?

Heh.... This guy

Sure, if you're only looking at the final score. There's more to it than that when you're trying to measure the team's progress.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

It's not just that..we have had the exact same CRAP in the secondary since Coughlin left, we have had the same non existent pass rush since Coughlin left, we have had the same non down field passing game since Brunell left...We have no run game, no passing game, no secondary but the humble beginnings to a pass rush have been seen...The humble beginnings to something resembling a QB are in place...Our receivers are about 50/50...50% catch the pass, 50% drop the ball, and one who has been heralded as our top receiver gets hurt every couple weeks... In other words, all we have is HOPE...

I hear ya and expect that...All I really expect to see is something that resembles a NFL caliber football team...Sometimes the Jags look just like a bunch of guys off the street that have never stepped foot on a field before trying to play with Pros
