Caldwell would be "relatively surprised" if Blackmon plays next season

does anyone know if he is currently being tested?  or will he start to be tested after the NFL approves his return and while he serves a suspension?

You do understand that there's no way anyone here would know if he's being tested, right?  HIPAA laws forbid that information being released to the public unless the patient signs off.

What we know is the league has a policy, and that any player who falls under the guidelines for the substance abuse program can be tested at any time.  That doesn't stop because he's suspended.

So now you want to restrict my right to enter into an employment contract, the terms and conditions of which I find acceptable?

Suppose I'm worth 5 mil a year, but have a problem with booze.   I promise not to drink during the season, but the team is still worried.  Don't I have the right to offer suffering a monetary penalty for a violation of that promise in an effort to secure employment?

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

It's scary news when Tanard Jackson is JUST getting off of suspension after being suspended in 2011 for his second substance abuse violation.

I can only hope Blackmon doesn't get the same treatment.

RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

The good news is that The Jags, I'm pretty sure, will get some sorta roster spot exemption and still be able to carry 53 while Blackmon lies in wait.

As the optics focus... they are showing Watkins, Mack, or ATL trade to select Mack.

If it happens, I am interested to see what it would cost ATL to move up to our spot.

I think there will be a draft day surprise.  I think another trade partner is going to rise up and make things interesting.

A 40 game, 2 1/2 year suspension does seem a little harsh.

I would venture to guess his suspension won't last quite that long.  More likely, it's another 8 games and he'll be reinstated.  I think that's the worst case scenario.

That being said, it annoys me to hear guys like Hicken/Prosser continuing to bang the drum for him never returning.  However, they finally clarified their point yesterday, and it's got everything to do with Blackmon's past, and his inability to shake his demons.  They're pretty much expecting him to fail in getting back on the right path.

I could actually see that happen based on his past history.  The fact that his first reaction to the indefinite suspension was to stop at the liquor store a friend of mine frequents to stock up on booze was probably not the best sign.  He's subsequently (supposedly) gone to rehab for his issues.  If he takes it seriously, hopefully he can make it back.  Otherwise, there's really no point in expecting him to be back...ever.

It's a shame if that happens.

Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

It's just really a shame we're even at this point. He was going to be the face of the franchise.

He never struck me as the type to take much of anything very seriously.

I am pretty sure, atleast in my opinion, his latest failed test was not for alcohol...

alcohol is not illegal, even if he has had issues in the past, I do not think the NFL can suspend him for it.

It was for something else, and sadly I have a feeling it was for the white powder... Jax WR's have a history for it, and maybe Jax just has a big white powder problem

I am pretty sure it wasn't for alcohol.. not to say he wasnt still drinking as I am sure he is sadly
