Make an arguement on why Caldwell should stay.

If Dave keeps Gus then Dave needs to Go. If he cannot recognize the coaches are sub par then all his draft picks and FA pickups are for nothing. So Dave can stay, unless he says Gus-Gus gets another year. I will then know DC has lost his mind.

And to think all we had to do was NOT sign Ivory and cut ties with Thomas and Marks at the end of this year and it wouldn't even have affected our cap going into next year.

Norman would have been cancer in the locker room though, he'd say things like "we need to win" and "Ya'll [BAD WORD REMOVED] be trippin, yall so bad" It'd have a bad affect on our players fragile egos and safe space time.

Did Dave fall off the face of the earth?

Ramsey, Yannick, Smith, Arob, Lee, Hurns, Cann, Colvin, Linder.

FA.  Malik, Marks, Miller, Gipson, Prince, Beachum.

Too early to tell but maybe.  Cyp, Bortles, Fowler, Jack.

He has done enough to stay post Bradley.  If the next coach doesn't work out he goes with him.

Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17
2016 draft players I think will be good
  • On the Fournette train, will be best back of his class 3/6/17
  • Lattimore please,  Lockdowns on both sides would be nice
  • Engram at TE and the MJD clone Samaje Perine

That's being awfully generous on some of those hits, both draft and FA...

The GMs most important job is hiring the HC. Caldwell missed on the HC worse than any GM ever has before.

I think we have a tendency to overate Caldwell simply because the two GMs before him were so bad that by comparison he seems great. Look we all love Telvin, Linder, Arob etc etc but every average to above average GM makes picks like that.

The only one I felt was generous was Cann.  The rest are exactly what you want in free agency,  patches and slight upgrades.

agree he messed up the coach but average gms and above average GMs are stoked to get players like Telvin, Linder, and Arob where they did.  In that draft Caldwell got the best players at their positions the latest compared to other teams.

Yeah if Dave was hitting on the elite picks that he should have hit on then Telvin, Linder, and Arob would make for a great resume. Unfortunately he missed on those elite picks...

People want to turn their head and act like Caldwell isn't part of the problem. His saving grace was getting to be compared to Gene Smith, so basically anything he did ended up making him look good.

However, now that we can see his 4 year body of work, it has become clear he must be taken out with the rest of the trash in January.

I agree Caldwell foots some of the blame here.

Mainly a project HC and a project QB.

FA is usually hit or miss and I think his hits outnumber his misses, even if just slightly.

He's done very well in the draft outside of 2013 (which most agree was a bad draft for most, which doesn't absolve him from anything but places it in context)...if Bortles doesn't pan out, maybe Allen does (or he could select a veteran FA to save his butt.

I wouldn't be surprised or upset even if Khan goes complete clean slate.

Likewise, DC has improved as a GM since his rookie year. Has a nose for finding guys in FA that fit the prove it patch deals that are cap friendly. So I wouldn't be surprised or upset if he is retained and given an opportunity to right the ship.

He's at fault for some of this teams issues but let's be real, a lot of people were high on Bradley. And a lot of people were all over BB5's jock last season and there were reports that some teams had Bortles as high as Caldwell too.

So we can look back and go "oh but this, and that" but overall Caldwell has done a fairly good job.

We see talent on this team. We see the true potential. I think a HC (and likely QB) fixes this and DC can continue to build this team with more hits than misses.

Being real. Prior to draft maybe what 3 posters if that knew who Blake was?   I mean after words many warmed up to him.  And he was very fan friendly at draft.  However quick to turn as well.

Miss on your head coach, miss on your very first top 5 pick, miss on your hand picked franchise QB, probably miss on yet another top 5 pick.

The final year of the 4 year build is probably going to finish with a worse record than the completely blow it up and start from scratch seasons. I don't see how you defend it.

Can we really trust Dave to find our franchise QB.  He has drafted 3 out of 4 bust with top 5 picks.  I don't trust him.  Fire him and gus together.

This is my issue with Dave. I honestly don't think he has been horrible, but I don't trust him to do the right thing in regards to our QB and HC situations.

In order to replace ya have to justify can be or has been better?  So who is out there that can prove is in fact better?  Or do we just fire just to fire?  And hope and pray?
