[b]Sure you want to be careful blitzing when you face a guy like Rodgers are Brady who will make you pay for it, but when you have a qb like Gabbert who is known to crumble under pressure, you simply have to get to him. When the front four was clearly not hitting home, it's on Wash to call up some blitzes. Get his Gabs face, and that game is another Jaguars blowout win  [/b]

I think the coaching staff got too cute on both the offensive and defensive side. The obvious botched final offensive drive  and on defense, way too much zone and what was with the prevent defense at the end of the game? Time to get back to the basics.

This loss was absolutely on the coaches. They got out coached all game long. Arians and co. was one step ahead of them the entire game.

It's never 100%, because the players are the ones playing at the end of the day. It's mostly on the coaches though in my opinion.

One of the plays that continues to stand out in my head (and there were multiple), it was a 3rd and 3, Cardinals had the football. Everybody in the entire universe knows it's going to be a short and quick throw, because they were doing it all game long and they only needed 3 yards for the first down. What does this Defense do??? They line up in Zone coverage, while playing 5 yards BEHIND the first down maker... Are you kidding me? Of course it was a quick and easy completion for about 6-8 yards and the first down.

That one play basically sums up the entire bone headedness of the game.

Yep I agree. It was really obvious they wanted Gabbert getting rid of the ball in about 2 seconds. Wash took much too long to adjust to it.

I get why Hackett was conservative since our personnel on offense is mediocre at best with all the injuries, but Wash doesn't have that excuse. I don't even think our issue was the fact our play calling was conservative, it was because it was out of the norm. We've been a great defense because we've been able to get pressure with four down linemen while our corners press on the line, so why were they playing so far off on Sunday? I get the Arizona has some speed in their receiving corps, but we've faced teams like Houston and Pittsburgh that have that speed coupled with FAR more talent. This defense doesn't need to play off man to keep everything in front of them.

Pardon? There was a play in the first half where he had two defenders the second hit the back of his drop. And that was from shotgun, not even a normal three or five step drop.

Bortles was far from perfect on Sunday or this season but him holding the ball too long is not an issue.

I agree with this and with the others questioning how Wash was too conservative with the zone defense and the cushion given to receivers. Sometimes he sorts of reverts back to Gus soft D while we have the players to keep being aggressive.
And on the Cardinals late FG drive again we held back too much, I understand the holding not called on Jack hurts a lot but we can't make them throw on us so easily.

The conservative approach was also in contrast to how we started the game: on the very first drive when the Cardinals were on 3rd and long and we got burned as Church failed to press his guy at the LOS it was the first time we sent 7 players at Gabbert since week 1 at Houston.(O'Halloran stat) Seeing that I thought we were planning to bring a lot of pressure all day but instead after we got burned on that play we didn't start pressuring again until the second half or so.
Hearing Marrone press conference after the game I think they realized they didn't good job at preparing this game and got outcoached by Arians & co. It happens, hopefully they'll fix the issues, Seahawks in a couple of weeks should be a good test.

Yeah, you’ll get no argument from me. Like I said, I feel like Wash might have turtled up a little bit. 

It’s also possible they thought sitting back in zone would allow them to capitalize on Gabberts inevitable mistakes. Which were there, they just didn’t hold onto them.
