Quote:And that is what is so important when selecting a President? It's damn well part of it. Quote:It's not a crock.Ok your brother is supporting someone who thinks he is an abomination. (Pence is anti gay as they come). Are you really going to try and justify Stop and Frisk? But, since you asked NYPD commissioner says no it didn't work. Quote:It's damn well part of it. Quote:It's damn well part of it. Meh. I don't really care what Trump said about some model/Miss Universe winner. That has nothing to do with what is wrong with our country and is a non-issue as far as I'm concerned. My brother can support whichever candidate he wants as far as I'm concerned. He's a grown man and can make his own decisions. You put words out there and try to make them stick by saying that the candidates call gay people "an abomination". That's not the case. No candidate has said such a thing. Just because a candidate (President or Vice President) supports traditional marriage being between a man and a woman doesn't mean that he/she "hates" gay people. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
There's a reason the gimmick behind The Voice is that you can't see them. Because people ARE judged by the way they look. Politics aside, Gov Rick Scott looks like an alien sometimes.
Tim Kaine just looks/acts weird. He's a creepy acting guy. Quote:Meh. I don't really care what Trump said about some model/Miss Universe winner. That has nothing to do with what is wrong with our country and is a non-issue as far as I'm concerned. Pence signed a law making it a felony for same sex couples to apply for a marriage license. https://www.google.com/amp/www.nwitimes.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/penalties-await-gay-couples-trying-to-marry-in-indiana/article_3cca22e7-9915-5d26-b0b2-3980aa91afaa.amp.html?client=safari And Pence has multiple times.
Quote:And that is what is so important when selecting a President? Is that what you read from that sentence? Cuz that's definitely not what I wrote.
What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???

Just like Obama appealed to a "certain sect" saying that they cling to their "bibles and guns". Is that not offensive to some people? Hillary calling Trump supporters "deplorable". Is that not offensive? It goes both ways. But, I didn't say that. I merely said I agreed. She said that and then appologized, I believe? Has he ever apologized? For anything that comes out of that hole of his?
Quote: how can women trust him to fix their issues? We shouldn't be looking to Washington or any politicians to fix women's issues. People shouldn't be looking to Washington or politicians to fix anything on a personal level. The government shouldn't be involved in most of the things they have their hands in.

I find Trump's demeanor secondary to everything else wrong with him to be honest. Yeah, it's not very presidential to double down on calling someone 'fat'. But even if he hadn't, I still wouldn't be voting for him. Not when he supports policies like Stop and Frisk. (Even if it does work, and there's evidence that suggests that it doesn't--it's still unethical and unconstitutional, not to mention discriminatory). Or when he supports a 45% tariff on Chinese Goods. And when he supports Trickle Down economics, thinking that the best way to improve the economy is still to give more money to those at the top.
Oh, I'm sure he's the conservative hero that everyone wants. (I.E. Not Obama and Not Hillary). He's not a career politician either, which bolsters his credibility with the anti-establishment wing of the right wing. He tells us he's going to do all these wonderful tremendous things, then doesn't really tell us what they are. His plans are secret. So secret, even he doesn't know them I'd wager. For all his anti-establishment cred, he's still carrying on one of the major problems the establishment created: The Us vs Them mentality. "Clinton's Fault!" "Bush's Fault!" "Obama's Fault!" Blame, Blame, Blame. The other side is so clearly and obviously the problem. And we're here to fix it... and in 4 years, he'll still be blaming Obama much like Democrats are still blaming Bush. The establishment loves it. Their base eats it up. I've never been a fan of Mike Pence either. He's very much a politician, much unlike Trump. I liked Tim Kaine's answer to the final question of the night--and it was the strongest point for him for me. I'm not a big fan of Kaine overall, but that answer moved him up a little in my book. I know it won't appeal to a lot of people, but it certainly appealed to me. I feel Pence is in ways opposite of Kaine there, which is a big part of why I don't like him as a candidate.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.
Quote:It's damn well part of it. Interesting that you once considered yourself a former Jeb Bush supporter and even campaigned for him, yet take such a hard line against Mike Pence's position, going even as far as lying about him believing gays are "abominations". Did you have an issue with Jeb Bush saying that the Supreme Court's decision on gay marriage should have been state-level? “I don’t believe that your relationship should be afforded the same status in the law as a man and a woman agreeing to marriage,” he wrote So did you take an issue with Jeb Bush's position on gay marriage like you do Pence's? Quote:It's foolishness. How he's made it this far is absolutely mind boggling to me. I know this board swings wayyyyyy right and I tend to stay out of this part of the forum because it's too frustrating, but it's head shaking. You sound like a bigot.
Quote:We shouldn't be looking to Washington or any politicians to fix women's issues. People shouldn't be looking to Washington or politicians to fix anything on a personal level. The government shouldn't be involved in most of the things they have their hands in. Yes we can. President Obama's first law was the one that allows women to sue employers who pay them less than male coworkers. That is not a women's issue and not personal at all. Being a woman herself, Hillary Clinton obviously knows how to fix other women's issues. Donald Trump is on record calling women derogatory names, but real politicians never do that. Quote:Used in that context, I am a "lefty" but being right-handed, I never call myself that. i would vote for her no matter who the Republican candidate was because she is a Democrat but I also like the fact that she has a lot of experience - former first lady, U.S. Senator, and Secretary of State - while Donald Trump is a political newbie. I voted for Hillary Clinton over Barack Obama in the 2008 primaries partly because she had a big experience advantage after living in the White House for eight years. So for me it is both, being a Democrat and not being Donald Trump.Voting for someone because of the letter in parentheses after their name on the ballot is the worst possible kind of voter you can be, imo. I'm also kinda lol'ing at the notion that simply living in the White House qualifies her to run the country. Quick, someone call the Bush twins! Their country needs them!
Quote:Voting for someone because of the letter in parentheses after their name on the ballot is the worst possible kind of voter you can be, imo. I also mentioned her tenure in the U.S. Senate before becoming Secretary of State. Those jobs don't make her more qualified than Donald Trump? Quote:Interesting that you once considered yourself a former Jeb Bush supporter and even campaigned for him, yet take such a hard line against Mike Pence's position, going even as far as lying about him believing gays are "abominations".If Bush passed the same law Mike did, then yeah I would have an issue. I tell no lie, of course I know Pence a lil better than you. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:If Bush passed the same law Mike did, then yeah I would have an issue. Why does it matter who signed the law? The difference between those two men is whether they would have signed it or not.
Quote:I also mentioned her tenure in the U.S. Senate before becoming Secretary of State. Those jobs don't make her more qualified than Donald Trump? If mastering corruption and quid pro quo makes her more qualified, then sure.
Quote:If mastering corruption and quid pro quo makes her more qualified, then sure. LOL I don't know what quad pro quo is, but she was not corrupt in the Senate. |
