***2022 Draft Day 3 thread***

Snoop Conner is an good pick for us. We definately need this security blanket w/respect to our injured RBs.

NH3...

A lot of these clips spoke more about the line than they did about Conner, but I don't think it's a bad idea at this point in the draft to grab a running back. And he did knock a couple guys on their butts. LOL

He looks like a big, physical, downhill runner who is not particularly nifty but can carry the load if we don't have Etienne or Robinson. Or he can be a short yardage back. That's what he looks like based on 1 minute of research and 5 minutes of video.

Yes, it was.  I like the way the draft is going.

He actually looks pretty good. Picking up a 4th RD pick on top of that is nice. And yeah, I agree. If he even gets remotely a chance at cracking a big play we all damn well it'll be fun to chant Snoop. LOL.

I don’t get the hate for late round draft picks this player or that player, I know we all have opinions but the fact is not many late round draft picks work out. In fact one of the few positions you can find help in the lower rounds is running back.

Yes it would be nice to get excited about a receiver or a guard or te but likely hood is they’d be off the team this time next year

So we drafted J Rob again. Aight.

I mean, we pissed away our chances at offense when we didn't trade up in the 2nd. We have no reason to draft a WR at this point. Guess we just take some late fliers at IOL and call it a day.

Not super pleased with the draft tbh. But maybe we'll trade for one of these disgruntled WRs.

Bit dissapointed in not getting a WR. Would love to see a trade of next years picks for DK Metcalf but highly doubt that.

Looks pretty depressing when you look at it like that...

Yes, we have a mid 6th round pick (197) plus the top pick in the 7th round (222).

I don't want to trade premium draft picks for a player that is going to demand a huge new contract in the $25 million a year range.  That's way too much to give up for one WR.

We have a 6th abs 7th round pick left. I hour we get a WR with one of the picks

That's not such a bad thing tbh.

I doubt 13 rookies would make the team. And now we have an extra 4th rounder next year. Sure, it'll be closer to a 5th round pick. But that's more ammo to move up if we want to next year. And we used some of those picks to move back into Round 1 for the best LB in the draft. We can fault the picks that are made, but it's not bad to trade up. Even if we're trading up into next year with this year's picks. It's the opposite of what Gene Smith would do. Gene would've traded next year's second for a third round this year. While we traded a 5th round this year (and packaged something else) for what will presumably be a late 4th rounder next year, but still a 4th rounder. And who knows. Tom Brady gets injured and can't play anymore, and that 4th rounder could be picked pretty early.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I like this part:

No lack of toughness in protecting his quarterback.
Squares up and proactively strikes the blitzer.

I disagree.  None of us know how these picks will pan out, but i like the aggressiveness of going for players you covet and giving up mostly picks that won't be contributors or make the team.  Gaining a 4th next year is awesome.  I'm happy with Baalke thus far.  Hope we take a flyer on Ross to cap off this draft.

I don't think it's that bad. This draft class this year in general is really not all that great. Gaining a future pick in next year's draft is actually pretty smart. Virtually every player they have selected will be a starter at some point or will be in a rotational setting.

Walker - For sure starting
Lloyd - For sure starting
Fortner - For sure starting, whether it's Center or Guard, he'll be starting
Muma - Starting inside in a 3 - 4 for sure
Conner - Rotational player for sure with an opportunity to start with two guys on the mend and shaking off the rust
