Hiroshima atomic bomb victims want apology from Obama

Quote:Living under rules and regulations you disagree with =/= slavery. You are perfectly free to leave. Which means you are 0% a slave and to say otherwise is insulting to people that lived under actual slavery are currently living in slavery.

The forcible confiscation of half your personal production is exactly that.

Yes, clearly leaving my home is the correct response to tyranny.

Tyranny? Leaving your home may be the correct response to drama queenitis.

Damn Founding Fathers and their stupid revolt over a 3% tax. What they hell did they know? They should've just shut up and taken it.

They didn't revolt over a 3% tax.  They revolted over taxation without representation.  Apparently this goes right over your head.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Not at all, you and I just disagree about what "representation" means.

I understand that you don't really care, that doesn't make me wrong. Feds are taking 20% of the GDP this year. States and locals are on track to take another 25%. Call it what you want, but no one in this country made a dollar for themselves before April 24th this year. Every dollar made before that went to taxes and that is simply immoral.

Taxation being Immoral is a matter of opinion and perspective. It is also an option. Slavery is not. You have options to not pay those taxes, one of which is to leave the country. That is not slavery and that is why you are wrong.

I'll agree with you that an unreasonable option exists, but slaves had the option to run away too. It's interesting that you've veered the discussion to the conditions of slavery rather than the point which is that taxes are immorally high and generally a corruptor in our society.

Edit: More interesting is how far this has gone from Hiroshima.

Running away was illegal and if caught the authorities would return a slave to its owner. No one is going to stop you if you choose to emigrate through the legal means available to you.

I don't think it's unreasonable and I also don't think, generally speaking they are too high. Nor a corruptor. As I said, they are a matter of opinion and perspective.

I have not veered a discussion anywhere. You claimed we live in slavery. I said you were wrong. Then you tried to say but taxes are slavery and again I said you were wrong. You brought up slavery so now we are here.

I think it's a fitting conversation for this thread. The discussion was on right/wrong and doing things that are necessary to stave off future blood shed or just plain winning the war. You might have said something similar in this thread. I think the civil war fits into that thread. Our current discussion is because you think you are slave when really you just don't like some rules in the society you chose to remain a part of.

And the feds are still running a deficit....

I wish that we could drop an atomic bomb on this thread since it's gone way off topic.

The bottom line is, people in Hiroshima were demanding that President Obama apologize for us dropping the bomb.  It (surprisingly) didn't happen.

If we want to discuss how the imperial federal government enslaves us (through taxation and/or regulation) then perhaps it belongs in a thread of it's own.

You should give more, you're clearly unpatriotic.
