I Can't Defend Bortles Anymore
|
Quote:No doubt. There is obviously a weakness with a 4 man rush. There is also a weakness when it come to how we coach our defense.Of course not. And it's not just him. Senderrick Marks being injured and lost for the year is just as huge if not even more.

Another thing is that Bortles is not only on pace to shatter the franchise QB TD record, but he is also on pace to have the 2nd most passing yards in franchise history. He'll be just shy of Mark Brunell's 1996 stats where Brunell was in his 2nd year of the Jaguars (not a rookie of course).
Comparison of Brunell's stats (1996) to Bortles stats (2015) through first 11 games: Brunell (11 games): 3,080 yards passing 14 TDs 18 Ints 252 yards rushing 2 rushing TD's 4-7 Record Bortles (11 games) 2,952 yards passing 22 TD's 13 Ints 255 yards rushing 0 rushing TD's 4-7 Record As we can see, Bortles TDs and Ints are superior to Brunell's during this 11 game stretch. But that doesn't tell the whole story of course. Now I was about 4 going on 5 years of age during the 1996 season for the Jaguars and I don't remember much, so I have a question. How much better was the defense back then compared to the defense of now? And besides Brunell having the advantage at the LT position, how much better were the RB's back then as compared to now? (Yeldon vs. Means)

Comparing Tom Coughlin to Gus Bradley is laughable. Gus would be Tom's water boy Quote:Not gonna argue with someone inept enough to not realize that this years defense has allowed MORE points PER GAME than ANY Jags D in jags history.......yes, it's Blakes fault. Clowns Well, in retrospect, that INT hurts badly though and was clearly a difference maker. The red zone offense is another huge difference maker. While I do feel that the Jaguars defense is not really good, I also feel that they did enough to help us win close games but didn't because we can't score more than 2 offensive TDs a game, no matter who the opponent is. We need the likes of Denver's defense to make up for that and that is simply not feasible on a consistent basis. Quote:-The score was only 14-9 before the half (Jags offense stalled for FGs).So lets switch it up, was the 80 yard drive in the fourth quarter aided by a fourth down qb run knowing a TD would be impossible to overcome, Blake's fault? I don't want record stats.....I want ugly wins.
Because Jaguars is our mantra

I think the inept one is the guy who can't fathom that: -Pick 6's -Fumble return TD (tampa) -Deep INT resulting in TDs (Chargers, Ravens) ALL GET INCLUDED IN PPG ALLOWED. Bortles and the offense are at least responsible for 42 points going the other way this season (and that's what I can think of off top of my head). Yup, those are all points against the defense. Inept, LOL Quote:So lets switch it up, was the 80 yard drive in the fourth quarter aided by a fourth down qb run knowing a TD would be impossible to overcome, Blake's fault? Where did I day that was Blakes fault? Nowhere. Both the defense and offense are at fault for thus teams problems,, and yes, that includes Bortles too.
Quote:Where did I day that was Blakes fault? Nowhere. Disagree....Bortles is actually having the best offensive season in Jags history. He's hardly a problem. If the Jags had Teddy's 17 ppg Vikings defense the Jags would be (7-4) right now EASY We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Where did I day that was Blakes fault? Nowhere. Not saying he doesn't share the blame. Quote:Disagree....Bortles is actually having the best offensive season in Jags history. He's hardly a problem. If the Jags had Teddy's 17 ppg Vikings defense the Jags would be (7-4) right now EASY Bortles is a problem. Those INTs hurt badly and have played a role in some of our losses......however, Bortles is also one of the main reasons why we are even close to winning the majority of our games this season. With the good and the bad that he has displayed, I am fine with it. If we can just get the run game going, fix the red zone offense, and get a effective 4-man rush, we are a playoff team. As for the cover defense, I am going to give Gus the benefit of the doubt and say that our players is terrible at man-to-man coverage as a result. I could be wrong but I can't see myself thinking I know more about an NFL defense than a proven NFL defensive coordinator and current NFL head coach. Quote:Disagree....Bortles is actually having the best offensive season in Jags history. He's hardly a problem. If the Jags had Teddy's 17 ppg Vikings defense the Jags would be (7-4) right now EASY Just answer me this,, I'm curious. -The TD by the Chargers at the end of the half (the INT that gave them the ball VERY DEEP in Jags territory),, is that the defenses fault?
Quote:Just answer me this,, I'm curious. Yes. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Yes.Lol. Okay,, technically. Personally,, I can't expect the defense to have to defend starting out in opponents redzone and always stop them to FGs. That's just me. Now, Critical drives late in the 4th when only down 1 score? Yeah,, that's terrible. Quote:The D is playing the scheme they are told to. No one asked Bortles to throw to Teo's girlfriend.LOL
Quote:Just answer me this,, I'm curious. Yes!! Why can't we hold teams to FGs like the Vikings do? Oh yeah, because Gus Bradley is inept

But, if that situation didn't happen frequently, I'd agree. But, the more it happens, more likely opponents will get a TD.
Quote:Fair enough. All teams score TDs on the Jags D...hence the worst defense PPG allowed in Jags history.....that's.the point |
