Jaguars expected to sign Calais Campbell

Tom built 2 mountains in the middle before and that worked well.  Good to see him go back to it.

Quote:They reportedly already did.  Just a rumor - but, who knows?

He's due very little in 2017. 4 million.  If he's cut - it's not about money - it's about roster numbers on the D-Line.

I don't really associate him with Gus at all. He complained about Gus openly.
You think? Marks in my eyes is like the spitting image of the Gus Bradley era here in Jacksonville, outside of his stupid LEO thing. Im not sure what the beef is with Coughlin and Marks. I get the injury thing and him being a big man, thats a concern going forward, but talent wise, he definitely can still play.

You have a very strange perception of Marks and that era.

Marks spoke out with negative implications toward Bradley in two separate off seasons.  He was not a Bradley guy.

Marks is being caught up in a numbers game. It happens to dozens of good NFL players every offseason.

If TC does somehow have a beef with Marks it's probably because he didn't keep his mouth shut when his prior HC was crapping the bed.

Honestly, I'd love it. I've been wanting to do that for quite a while now and at this point, we have the pieces to do it at a high level.

<p class="">Calais Campbell's deal with the Jags will average $14M/season. Wow. Lot of money tied up in that DL

I guess I missed it where he spoke out against Bradley. I never saw that. Im not necessarily saying thats what everyone thinks, Im just saying in my eyes, he always came across as a face of the Gus Bradley era. He was a well spoken guy and just has been a big part of the team the past 4 years. Again, I like that guy no matter what and I think hes a good player.

I remember Gipson and Ramsey had some snarky comments when the season ended, I just didnt catch Marks saying anything.

Hopefully it's got the easy cut-ties-after-2-years-if-it's-not-going-so-well structure like our other deals.

We have a ton of cap money so front loading the contracts makes all the sense in the world. I'd expect it to be structured that way.

It's more money than I expected Calais Campbell to get at his age.  Yet,  the Jaguars are getting a highly accomplished player, a great athlete,  with very impressive character.  Unlike many players in the NFL,  Calais Campbell is easy to root for!

Heard a story on Calais Campbell and why he talks like an actual monster. Said he was yelling so much and so loud during a game one time that his voice box actually broke mid game and that is why he sounds like that.

Church and Campbell are leaders. That's my favorite part about these signings.

He immediately becomes our best defender. I love the move

And we take an early lead in the pursuit of another offseason championship.

Calais Campbell was the top defensive lineman on the market while coming off an elite season and is still only 30 (not young, but in the middle of his prime and his game SHOULD age well). He was getting 12M without a doubt.

14M was a little high, but its already been stated Washington bowed out at the end so there was a bidding war. Bidding war = $$$

I like it. Had the 3rd most cap space and all our contracts allow outs. Who cares.

What a great news to wake up to!!

I really wanted Campbell at this point, we get a great player and a real leader. Really happy about it Smile

Calais Campbell and Malik Jackson rushing on the inside together is going to be insane. Campbell was an even better pass rusher than Malik last year.
