*** Official Live State Of the Jaguars Coverage Starts at 10:45 Today***

Quote:I didn't watch the state of the union but I just watched a portion of it on the shipyards. My question is how long until the shipyards project is complete and who will be the one paying for it? Also will this project have anything to do with making Kahn or the Jags more profitable or is it more public to everyone to own businesses in the area?

Khanstruction should begin in about a week and it will be funded by a secret tax revenue from opposing fans living in Florida. The area will be strictly for the improvement of downtown jax and to soley appease the old fogies and will not in any way benefit the Jaguars. Khans just a really nice guy!

While I think the seat reduction is a good idea, I think Mr. Khan had gone too far with the rendering that he provided.

I'm curious on what the price tag on this glorious thing would be. One would have to imagine cost reaching a few billion. Khan may have to take out a few loans himself to make this happen.

Pretty awesome to see Khan do what he has done thus far. I hope his plans come true and Jacksonville is a place all people want to visit.

Think of this as a Beach landing and establishing the spear.  You get this started and you are putting people to work in skilled labor.  As the project develops that skilled labor can expand to other city projects.  The areas that get completed become magnets for activity and you can move forward from there.  You have to swing for the fences on city planning.

Heck back before I had to leave the area, I thought they would never get a new ball park downtown.

Edit:

This makes me even more disappointed that I have to leave the State again Sad

As residents of the Jacksonville area, we are used to taking this approach. Too many proposals, presentations and such that never came true. But this feels different to me. Alot of the past proposals are from groups with no real financial stability. This one is from a man worth almost 5 billion dollars.

Even if only half of that presentation comes to fruition, could anyone be upset?  Half of that is still better than what I was expecting.

Pardon my ignorance of local politics, but do you guys seeing any of the powers-that-be trying to roadblock what Khan is proposing? He seems like a guy who, when he sets his mind to something, gets it done...but if the people around him won't play nice, it could potentially cause problems/issues.

Not the current administration, which is why Khan is backing who he is.

Off topic, but I'm an electrician and I currently live too far away to go to every game, but I could see myself moving back home to work at one of these new shipyard establishments. I think Khan is going to go down as a legend in Jacksonville when it's all said and done. We might even host another superbowl one day because of this guy. I love it.

Seems they wouldn't have put that whole show together with the obvious work that's gone into the shipyards proposal if the plan wasn't a solid one. Khan doesn't seem like a man that doesn't get what he wants. Jacksonville must be so fun for him. It's like a blank canvas to him. It's a perfect marriage.

I think the next thing he's going to make his priority will be to get the SB back here. Not for several years, but don't think all of this isn't going to lend to a much different experiece than last time. Khan is most definitely taking this city to new heights.
