Let's be clear about JJ Watt

Quote:that makes sense. But under that same logic, Peyton should have won mvp almost every year he was in the league.

I doubt it.

He's won it 5 times in a league with Tom Brady. I'd say he's won it about as many times as anyone playing with possibly the greatest QB of all time should be able to win it.

Quote:I'd happily make a bet that he gets at least one receiving TD this year?
I thought we were looking for repeat stats?

He lined up in a goal line situation 3 times, for 4 yards, 3 catches, 3 targets, 3 tds.

To say they won't do it AT ALL would be foolish.

And maybe they will.

But I doubt he ends up with 3 offensive TDs.

And more to the point I don't think he combines 3 offensive TDs with a pick 6, 5 fumble recoveries (1 for TD), 60 tackles and 20+ sacks.

My argument is that is such a gaudy stat line, odds are he won't repeat it. Thus won't even be close to MVP talk again.

I'm guessing he could get 1 offensive TD, maybe he still nabs a pick 6 (albeit doubt he goes 80 yards with it again haha) but his sacks will be lower total tackles will be lower...

-shrug-

I'm not much a betting man but it's too hard to say he won't get ANY offensive snaps.

I never said he would get 3 TD's again, my reply was to your comment of "he wont be lining up at TE in goal line situations anymore" if you wanna back down that's fine Big Grin

I'm just wondering..... How's Watt's stat line looking this year, so far?

MVP status?

It's a team sport, as great as JJ Watt is he can't do it alone.

I think they are wrong to say if the Texans had drafted Bortles instead of Clowney that they would be set instead of being done.

One player cant change everything even if he's the QB.  It hasnt produced wins in Jacksonville so far...

you need a bunch of great players to go all the way... although a QB is the most important on a team as he is the leader...

but DE is a premium slot too.

BUT...

They already had Watt... Clowney was a luxury pick... they needed a QB bad and it is showing.

I bet if they had Bortles and then picked Fowler this year (or Cooper), they'd be AFCS favorite.

Hopkins is good.

Foster when healthy is really good.

With a Bortles Cooper combo that offense would be pretty good imo.

Hard to disagree with this. I also believe that if the took BB5 they would be further along and there's a good chance they could be in the division lead after 5 games.

I don't really know what kind of HC O'Brien might be, but from what I have seen from Bradley so far this season, it would be hard to be worse then Bradley.

I'll know a little more about who might be the better HC between the 2 after this weeks game.

P.S. Even Vegas has the 1-4 Texans favored at the 1-4 Jags. OUCH!!!!!!!!!

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

odds are 1 point favorite for Jags now...

I'm not saying Gus is better or worse really...  I don't spend so much time evaluating the coaches as others..

What I'm saying is he is such an unknown, with little to no results, to prove he'd be an upgrade over Bradley.

That's why it's a yearly award.

And why he was arguably worthy last season.

but we were discussing, awhile back in this thread, the likely hood of Watt repeating those stats, or even lining up offensively.

which is why I brought up the fact that, as good as his stats were, he'd likely not repeat those stats, they were career peaking numbers.

as opposed to a QB (who wins more often than anyone) who can truly post MVP like stats consistently, and obviously mean more to a team than any DE ever could.

thus really negating any notion that Watt ever really deserved MVP recognition... even with those stats he had last season
