Could a loss today start to make the seat a little warm for Gus Bradley?

I have neve seen an NFL HC waste time outs like Bradley did today with his reg flag.

Quote:I think you are completely missing Bradley's point.  All you can do is work on your craft and get better.  If you do that then good things eventually will happen.  It is a process.  Of course he wants to win and of course wins matter... never mind, probably pointless to explain to you.

I get his point, I just think it's a backwards way of preparing your team. Instead of focusing on how to beat this weeks opponent we're focus on not sucking as bad as last week. Eventually we won't suck and we will win regardless of who we are playing. That's a false narrative. Good teams lose to bad teams EVERY week.

The purpose of the week is to prepare best as possible on how to beat THAT weeks opponent. That's where game planning, strategy, and preparation come in. Linder isn't going to become such a better blocker we will out play the Browns, but if we scheme we can play our strengths against their weaknesses.

Never mind continue with the cheerleader rah rah, just get better the wins will come..............

Right, Gus focuses on sucking  Wallbash.  Yeah, you're right, gus doesn't game plan, strategize or prepare...  And I'm sure he doesn't even look at the tape for the opponent he is facing that week.  I'm amazed you are even writing this stuff.  It's unbelievably stupid.

I said the focus, should be on the next weeks opponent not "getting better". We won't "improve" to beat teams, these are grown men playing a sport they've played all their lives, most of them are what they are.

The fact that Ball was correct for saying the team was "focused" on that 1st win says it all. Gus isn't focused on getting the win THIS week, or NEXT week, or 5 Weeks from now, he's focused on trying to coach up his players and make them more then they are. It's a chess game and he's trying to upgrade all his pawns into queens.

You don't think they focus on next weeks opponent?  So they shouldn't try and get better?  Most of them are what they are?  Why do we even have coaches?  Dude, put down the key board.

By Gus's own admission the goal isn't to win it's to get better every week. I'm taking the man at his own words.

No thanks, I don't think there's a guarantee he'll be fired.  But I do think if we don't win more than 2 games that it should be under consideration.  And I think it will be if that's the case.

Of course they focus on next weeks' opponent.  But they should be playing to the players strengths as well.  That's what a coach should do.  It looks (from the outside at least) like Gus wants them to play his scheme, rather than the scheme that fits them best.

Regardless of that being the case or not though, there should be pressure to win.  He shouldn't get a free pass this year.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Well of course it is not a guarantee.  If it was, I wouldn't bet.  Lol, that is the point.

The evidence says other wise. If we where game planing to our strengths and not just focused on "getting better" why are we still running a zone blocking scheme when our oline can't even line up and block the guy in front? why are we still running a west coast offense with a QB that's got the arm to get the ball deep. Why are we playing strictly zone when our LB core can't keep up with the TE every week?

I can go on and on, it's because the focus is to get better not plan against this weeks opponent. Gus has said it every week you're just refusing to see it and believe it. I'm sure they have film time and tweak the game plan every week but it's not the focus. Other wise we would've dumped the ZBS and the West Coast offense in week 4.

In regards to Bortles, may be the fact that our line struggled all day to give him protection.  6 sacks and would have been a lot more had they called more deep passes.

I think Gus is trying to lose.  You're right.  What was I thinking.

I didn't say he was trying to lose.

no, he's not on the 'hot seat' yet. Next year, if we're still 'lame', then he will be on the hot seat. You gotta remember this f/o started with almost worse than nothing after the fiasco created by Gene Smith. We're realistically only into the 2nd year of a total rebuild. It [bad word removed] to be a Jaguar fan right now, but that's the mess this franchise was left in because Wayne Weaver wouldn't fire Gene Smith when he should have.

There's really nothing for us to do at this point except either:

a. suck it up as fans and continue to support the team

b. say the heck with this crummy franchise and start pulling for some other team or sport (soccer is popular I'm told..).

c. whine and moan like a little four year old girl... but stick with the team.

I tend to vacillate between options a and c. Hey the Jags may be awful... but their the only NFL team we got in Jacksonville...

I y'ams who I y'ams and thats all I y'ams...

No hot seat for Gus. Not yet anyway.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

You're looking at this the wrong way.

It's one thing to complain about bad blocking, poor coverage, awful clock management.

It's another to act like the coach doesn't care about winning.

That's what you are doing and it's dumb. You're obviously missing the point entirely.

It is dumb.  That actually summed it up nicely.

Dude, you're right...

The non-sensical, "getting better every day" is a mantra. It's a way to deflect reality. But if you have no idea how "to get better", it's just a motto.

We're in the midst of watching a coaching staff that really WANTS to get better, but has no idea how to do so.
