He's good but he's definitely not worth the 3rd overall pick

Dee Ford is a little perplexing to me. During the couple regular season games I watched, I came away from the games with a thought that he showed good effort, but was not stellar to me. However, the senior bowl week showed him as an impact stellar athlete at the rush spot. Teams are hungry for combination pass rushers and effort guys; it would not surprise me now to see him taken in the top 15 picks. Before the senior bowl, I thought he showed as a 3rd round type of try hard guy.

What teams are going to have to figure out is if the amazing hand skills he showed against Ogbuehi in the last week of the season are for real. Before that game he was pretty much a one trick speed rusher that often got abused by the more athletic OTs that could keep up with him. Then against Ogbuehi he magically showed ridiculous skills with violent hands and great placement and he whipped a future top 10 pick in Ogbuehi with an awesome total package of skills.

Then for the Senior Bowl he was back to one trick speed rush pony...but it was all he needed as he totally outclassed the Senior Bowl OTs with just the speed rush. I wish he would have been tested more there to see if he how versatile he really is.

Honestly I don't think Ford is any better Lemonier was last year. Lemonier went in the third last year so if we could pick Ford up in the third round I would be okay with it. I see them both as forward-only rush guys and they were both slowed by injuries in college.

I wouldn't take him at 3. I'd be fine if we took him with our 2nd round pick.

There are at least 3, maybe 4 pass rushers who may have better or at least similar ability than him with more desirable size at DE. That alone should answer whether or not he should be drafted at 3. He's more of a mid 1st to 2nd round prospect. If we don't go DE with the 3rd pick, and he happens to slip to 39, depending on who else is there, I wouldn't mind if we draft him there.

Oh man Dee Ford at 3 would be worse than taking alualu at 10/11.

I like Ford just not at 3 (like many others have said) or in the top 10 for that matter. I think you have to narrow down Dave's top 5 which he has said they have figured (and Id guess would be willing to take at 3 or in a trade-back scenario). I dont see Ford being in that group. But I could be wrong, he does seem to have this infamous 'juice'.
