I actually think his pocket presence is strong and his only redeeming quality. Most days he doesn't hold on to the ball and stand in one place or run into sacks. He's good at escaping pressure and I've seen him step up in the pocket and keep his eyes downfield many times.


At the very least he doesn't stare at the rush, see ghosts, or curl into the fetal position like Gabbert.

 

He doesn't have happy feet the way Gabbert did but he doesn't escape pressure because he feels it coming like top tier QBs seem to do. When he leaves the pocket it's usually because he doesn't know where to go with the ball.  How many fumbles or sacks has he taken because he didn't realize he was under pressure?  The fact that we're even comparing Bortles and Gabbert shows how much of a problem we have at that position.

Bortles is definitely stuck in the suck cycle but comparing him and Plain Garbage, be better football people than that, one day maybe Garbage will get to run down the yellow brick road with Dorothy and find courage but it doesn't look too good for him right now

How much more of this can we take? I really thought he was going to be a good qb, but he is the main reason why we have lost a ton of games the past couple years, just a turnover machine and the butt of many a punchline jokes.

It's impressive how good the defense has typically been throughout the season, coupled with the inability to create turnovers, the inept offense, and Blake My-Middle-Name-Is-Turnover Bortles.


I still don't necessarily think Bortles can't be "good" (Jay Cutler-esque, if you will) but this staff needs to be gone. Absolutely.

His record as a starting QB is something like 10-31.

 

Of course that means he is a losing QB and I sure don't ever see him with a winning record as a starting QB, so yes, that means he is a loser.

The only thing to love about bortles is his athletic ability but is forest gump up stairs.   Time to sit this guy.
