I Can't Defend Bortles Anymore

I've seen the positives, but frankly I feel it is to the point that the turnovers are outweighing that. He literally threw the ball right to Te'o. It's killing this team.

I understand what you mean although I haven't quite crossed that line yet.  My biggest concern is that he misses wide open guys over and over again.  He's gotta get better at that, but I'm afraid that vision is one of those things you either have or you don't.

I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Bortles had nothing to do with Antonio Gates having a field day.

Did ya'll watch the same game. Bortles will not be any better b/c he won't stop throwing off his back foot instead of stepping into his throws. Yes play calls really seem to be a huge problem. As a QB can do audible out and run a different play. He has time in the pocket more than he has before and yet he runs out and sometimes takes a sack when he could've just thrown it away. Fans really don't need to blame the D. Yes they have problems not getting off the field on 3rd down but when they do. Jags go 3 and out and bame D back on the field. That will wear on anybody. They are good in my eyes. Coaches know the problem and need to come up with a scheme to fix that. They cannot fix a QBs thoughts

Ben Roethlisberger just threw a pick to a defensive lineman. What trash!

How often does this team go 3 and out? Do you even watch the games? They had the ball 2 and a half minutes more than we did today, 1:14 of which was end of the game run off. Yet you're calling other posters dumb? What is a bame D, and how do you fix a QB thoughts?

Quote:All teams score TDs on the Jags D...hence the worst defense PPG allowed in Jags history.....that's.the point
My point is that the offense gives up points almost every game,, so total PPG isn't solely on the defense. That's all I'm saying.

Yes,, the defense looked bad today when it mattered most. Down 1 score,, they allowed a clock killing TD drive that was the killer.

But seriously,, the offense has given up alot of easy TDs to opponents this season too. Total PPG attributed to defense should be just a little lower.

Yea... A little lower. Nothing that's drastic.

Point remains. No pass rush. We allowed Rivers all day to throw since we continued to just rush 4. We had no run game going against a team that is absolutely dreadful against the run. A young QB needs a couple things to help him out. A run game and a good D. Blake has neither.

Thank you for pointing out the offensive problems too. Thank you.

Yes, the defense needs to be much better.

But so does the run game, o-line, and Bortles in a few key areas.

He is young,, so he will/should get even better. But, he also has his issues too.

22TD's 13ints shows he is doing more good than bad

I guess I'm missing something here. At this point, Bortles is the Jags offense. Of the 24 total TDs the team scored, he's responsible for 23 of them. He has no support from the run game. Does he miss open guys? Sure, but today he completed 61% of his passes for two TDs and 320 yards--despite the Allens having a quiet day.

I'm the first one to admit he needs to cut down on the INTs, and he needs to be more efficient in the red zone.

26 points should be enough to beat most NFL teams.

And at 4-7 the Jags are ahead of last years record after 11 games.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

Defense didn't help Bortles at all today

Lol dude throws one pick and he is terrible.

Did the Defense stop the Chargers after that pick?  Hell no they didn't.

I don't think anyone is claiming Blake was perfect today. However some people are claiming this loss is on him.... Which couldn't be farther from the truth.

Defensive missed tackles, no pass rush and lack of run game, to me, are the key reasons we lost. Blake is literally doing everything for this team in only his 2nd season. He's gonna make mistakes but let's be honest.... Who made more mistakes today: the defense or Blake?

The defense was poo on a stick today against batckups essentially.

Scoring 3 straight field goals instead of 3 TDs didn't help the Defense.

Quit crying ..Half the starting QBs have 10-12 ints in the league.

So the long drives keeping them off the field don't help?
