So people aren't afraid to see a natural pass rusher being put into a easier position to rush the passer...  OKAY, that makes sense.  LOL, reminds me of the fools who said Mario Williams couldn't stand up.. He was on pace for a career year before injury, and the little time he played on his feet led him to become the highest paid player in NFL history despite injury..  Clowney is only going to have to do one thing,.. rush the passer.

"Easier" is subjective. Some guys thrive when they're able to put their hand down nose-to-nose with the linemen and I see Clowney as one of those guys.

 

Clowney is one of those guys with a Polamalu-level of reaction time that allows him to push the tackle into his quarterback. Those are players that coordinators dream of having on the ends.

 

I think he'd benefit a 4-3 defense much, much better, and I'm not afraid of him in a 3-4 at all.

 

He is easily the most prototypical 4-3 do-it-all DE I've ever seen.

Savage has barely even played and had almost three years of a lay off.

 

The fact that we're even discussing these two players just further proves my point.  Great QB depth, but the deep end of that pool (difference in talent) only reaches the level of a kiddie pool.  Not much difference between touching the bottom and then coming up for air.

Pretty sure Bortles could've won a starting job at Rutgers! Just saying

The rebuilding Jags handled the Texans twice last year, largely because their QB play was even worse than ours.  I don't care about Clowney.  He has high bust potential and a name to match.  The Texans still need a QB.
