Worst Teams Tracker

Quote:Disagree. They had 1 sack last night against a backup QB and it was a coverage sack, and basically zero pressure. I know this because they were my fantasy defense and almost lost me a game!

If GB plays an entire season with Senaca Wallace and everybody else healthy, they win 3 games at the most.

They also did not have sack machine Clay Matthews. I guarantee you he would have sacked Josh McCown at least once.

The Packers won't have everybody else healthy. Jermichael Finley is on IR. But it is yet to be seen if Aaron Rodgers will be back before Week 17.

GB is in trouble. I have Detroit winning that division and possibly making some noise in the playoffs.

Minnesota will benefit from the Packers losing Aaron Rodgers four at least four weeks because they go to Lambeau Field the Sunday before Thanksgiving. However they also play against the Eagles this year and already lost to the Giants, so what they do against the Packers will not matter. What Vikings fans should hope for is Rodgers not playing against the Falcons in Week 14.

Now that we finally have our first win, tonight's game just became a lot more important. GO BUCCANEERS!

The Jaguars were on record pace towards the worst team ever.  Proved me wrong and I'm happy about that.  No telling how many wins the Jags/Bucs/Vikings/etc. will have in the final 7 games, but we're no longer in a conversation with the 2008 lions

Do you want me to include all two-win teams in the race for #1? So far nobody has talked about the 2-7 Texans.

Well if the Buccs lose tonight, then we won't be worrying about SOS until they do.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Oh yes we will. SOS is important no matter what they do.

Why do we want the Texans to lose? They have as many wins as us and the Buccaneers combined.

As a Jags fan I can't bring myself to root for a divisional rival unless they play one another, or if them winning helps us make the playoffs somehow.  Besides, the texans affect our SOS more than the Raiders do, and we still face the Texans twice.  Winning against them both times puts us out of it anyway, while them beating us twice puts them out of it anyway.  Splitting is about the only thing that keeps us where we are.

SOS of the Jags/Buccs/Vikings/Texans (counting the teams they haven't played yet)

Jaguars: 79-68

Vikings: 80-68

Texans: 81-65

Buccaneeers: 84-64

When the Jaguars have no chance of winning the AFCS, I usually don't worry about what the Texans, Titans, and Colts do. I hate none of those teams.

If we split the Texans series, I hope our win is the one at home.

For anyone who did not notice, I updated this thread to include the 2-7 Vikings, Texans, and Falcons.

Does tonight's game matter?

I added each opponent's record to the schedule for all four 2-8 teams (Vikings, Falcons, Buccaneers, and Texans) and the 1-9 Jaguars.

Bold: winning record Italic: losing record Underline: even record

VIKINGS (8 winning, 3 even, 5 losing)

6-4 Lions, 6-4 Bears, 4-6 Browns, 4-6 Steelers, 7-3 Panthers, 4-6 Giants, 5-5 Packers, 5-5 Cowboys, 3-7 Redskins, 10-1 Seahawks, 5-5 Packers, 6-4 Bears, 4-6 Ravens, 6-5 Eagles, 7-4 Bengals, 6-4 Lions

FALCONS (8 winning, 2 even, 6 losing)

8-2 Saints, 4-6  Rams, 5-5 Dolphins, 7-3 Patriots, 5-5 Jets, 2-8 Buccaneers, 6-4 Cardinals, 7-3 Panthers, 10-1 Seahawks, 2-8 Buccaneers, 8-2 Saints, 4-7 Bills, 5-5 Packers, 3-7 Redskins, 6-4 49ers, 7-3 Panthers

BUCCANEERS (10 winning, 1 even, 7 losing)

5-5 Jets, 8-2 Saints, 7-3 Patriots, 6-4 Cardinals, 6-5 Eagles, 2-8 Falcons, 7-3 Panthers, 10-1 Seahawks, 5-5 Dolphins, 2-8 Falcons, 6-4 Lions, 7-3 Panthers, 4-7 Bills, 6-4 49ers, 4-6 Rams, 8-2 Saints

TEXANS (8 winning, 8 losing)

4-6 Chargers, 4-6 Titans, 4-6 Ravens, 10-1 Seahwaks, 6-4 49ers, 4-6 Rams, 9-1 Chiefs, 7-3 Colts, 6-4 Cardinals, 4-6 Raiders, 1-9 Jaguars, 7-3 Patriots, 1-9 Jaguars, 7-3 Colts, 9-1 Broncos, 4-6 Titans

JAGUARS (7 winning, 9 losing

9-1 Chiefs, 4-6 Raiders, 10-1 Seahawks, 7-3 Colts, 4-6 Rams, 9-1 Broncos, 4-6 Chargers, 6-4 49ers, 4-6 Titans, 6-4 Cardinals, 2-8 Texans, 4-6 Browns, 2-8 Texans, 3-7 Bills, 4-6 Titans, 7-3 Colts

Although it seems obvious at first glance we have the weakest SOS, it is important to note how many wins and losses we are looking at. The Vikings beat a 3-7 team. The  Buccaneers and Falcons will play against another team with 7 losses. When you add it all up, do you still see a weaker SOS in Jacksonville than everywhere else?

Jaguars: 53.09%

Vikings: 53.70%

Texans: 54.38%

Falcons: 54.72%

Buccaneers: 56.88%

Let's look at the median number of losses for each team:

Jaguars: 6

Texans: 5

Vikings: 5

Falcons: 4.5

Buccaneers: 4

The Jaguars have the highest median of the remaining teams.  So I'd say they probably have the easiest SOS of the bottom ranked teams.

Oddly enough if the Texans beat the Jaguars next week, they will be much closer to the Jaguars than they were in terms of SOS (but will be near-out of the running anyway)

So even after you crunch the numbers, we are still in the driver's seat. Got it. But you make an interesting point about our next game being against the Texans.

So what if we beat the Texans? Then we are tied with them and, being in the same division, our SOS is not much easier. So that could make the second Texans game be the Bridgewater Bowl lol.

What do the Week 12 results mean to us?

Saints beat Falcons: There is a three-way tie for worst record (2-9) with the Falcons, Jaguars, and Texans.

Jaguars beat Texans: The teams are now tied for last in the AFCS and the TNF game will be the Loser Bowl.

Buccaneers beat Lions: Tampa Bay now has three wins, but because we won, they are still only one game better.
Vikings and Packers tie: We still have to worry about Minnesota's record, but their SOS does not matter anymore.

Also, if the Redskins lose tomorrow night, it would not be a bad idea to label them as a "worst five" team and look at their schedule.

If we beat the Texans at home, I think they'll end up with the first pick. I am hoping we don't drop below 2.
