Obviously we intend Lil'Jordan Humphrey to convert to Tight End.  And we still need an o-line upgrade!

This is my crack at a 'realistic' draft. I'm aware that it probably won't be.

Trade down with Denver to 10 and pick up their extra 2nd.

Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 10 (DEN): Jawaan Taylor, OT, Florida
Round 2 Pick 6: Irv Smith Jr, TE, Alabama
Round 2 Pick 9 (DEN): Chase Winovich, DE, Michigan
Round 3 Pick 5: JJ Arcega-Whiteside, WR, Stanford
Round 3 Pick 34 (COMP): David Montgomery, RB, Iowa St.
Round 4 Pick 7: Max Scharping, OT, N. Illinois
Round 6 Pick 5: Ugochukwu Amadi, FS, Oregon
Round 7 Pick 22: Jazz Ferguson, WR, Northwestern State

I went with hard difficulty and ran with Fanspeak's Steve's bigboard for this round.

R1P7: Jonah Williams - OT - Alabama - With Parnell gone and Robinson coming back off an ACL injury we could use all the help we can get in keeping Foles upright. Williams would be a good start. I think him and Robinson would duke it out for the LT gig and the loser takes the RT gig. It's a win-win because we're getting two capable starters out of it at the end of camp.

R2P6: Josh Jacobs - RB - Alabama - Good decision here considering that Yeldon is gone, Fournette cannot stay healthy and he has beyond questionable decision making on and off the field just based on the suspensions and grumblings we've heard locally. He may not be the long term answer. We made a mistake last year in passing up on Sony Michel for Taven Bryan. This move makes up for it. Jacobs has all the skills you want to see in a RB and he'll fit this offense perfectly.

R3P5: Mack Wilson - ILB - Alabama - Again, surprised he fell this far in the simulator but nationally most mock boards have him rated as a 2nd - 3rd RD player. I like this move here. Again, we're getting two starters by moving Wilson inside who is well known for his pass coverage ability and you're sliding Jack back outside to better compliment Smith on the opposite field of play.

R3P34: Miles Sanders - RB - Penn State - Just couldn't pass up on this kid. He was the BAP on the board and at this point in the draft he's probably a steal. Again, just like with my decision to take Jacobs. Our RB position is depleted and questionable. Can Fournette hold up? Can he be trusted? So far I am led to believe he cannot do that. Is Grant ready? I don't know. We cut Hyde as well. Blue? Rawls? Seriously? I would feel 10x better with Fournette, Jacobs and Sanders heading into August. The rotation could be pretty interesting.

R4P7: Austin Bryant - DE - Clemson - Steal this late in the draft. Austin made a nice little killing over the last two years feeding off a stacked front four for the Tigers. Plugging him in and out of the line-up could be ideal for our defense. We really don't know what to expect out of Bryan this year in his 2nd year. We have Dareus, Campbell and Ngakoue to lean on. But we could always use the depth. Bryant provides said depth.

R6P5: Foster Moreau - TE - LSU - From all accounts. He's not going to line-up and trail blaze a defense down the middle of a field. But he can sure as hell block in the running game and he could be viable and valuable in short yardage situations. A good edge blocker from most of the reports I have seen. What better way to help out Fournette, Jacobs and Sanders?

R7P22: Alex Wesley - WR - Northern Colorado - Had to read up on this kid a bit. Seems like he gained a lot of respect during the combine and senior bowl. He's been consistent over the last two years. Ran pretty well at the combine as well. Shows some toughness over the middle. He's not the tallest receiver but this late in the game we're just trying to add some potential depth to allow Foles and Co. to adjust within this new offensive system. Wesley could be a decent little steal here if we coach him up with patience. McCardell could turn this kid into a nice project. And honestly? WR is open to me on this roster. Once you get passed Westbrook and Lee (whose also coming off yet another injury) it's all up for grabs spot wise. Even with Conley being added.

Rd. 1 (7) - Nick Bosa

Rd.2 (38) T.J. Hockenson

Rd. 3 (69) Kaleb McGary

Rd. 3 (98) David Montgomery

Rd. 4 ( 109) Terry McLaurin

Rd. 6 (178) Mike Bell

Rd. 7 . Nick Linder

Strengths- Somehow managed to get the best pass rusher, tight end and my favorite back. Potential starting right tackle in McGary and solid receiver and special teams guy in McLaurin.

Weaknesses: Didn't get a back-up q.b. and would have liked to get a safety a little higher. Not sure about Bell.

Bottom line: This draft, like most on Fan Speak, will never happen. If the Jaguars were able to get this group, I'd do somersaults all the way to the stadium on April 27!

I love how these NFL Draft sites give us unrealistic expectations of drafts.  Can you imagine if we got Hockenson and Metcalf without any trades?

I could get into something like this:

7 - Hockenson TE
38 - Chase Winovich EDGE (unless Risner is still there)
69 - Tytus Howard OT (Oshane Ximines EDGE if Risner is the Jags pick in rd 2)
99 - Jakobi Meyers WR
109 - RB (Justice Hill/ Karan Higdon / Bryce Love)
179 - Michael Dogbe DT
238 - Isaiah Prince OT

After Sony Michel's rookie season performance and Taven Bryan's performance. And now with Fournette being arrested for something so minor and immature? Yes. I have ZERO qualms with this team spending a late 1st RD pick on a good RB like the Patriots did last year. And I would love to steal Josh Jacobs in RD2.

You have Fournette's health and decision making to worry about. And you have Grant coming back from an injury that ultimately ended MJD's career in OAK. And we just cut Hyde and Yeldon is gone. Who the hell do we have at RB gentlemen? We have nobody that's durable and trustworthy at the moment.

And with this offensive system being installed and Foles going up to bat this year with a lot less talent at WR and TE to work with? The running game and short passing game involving the RB's will be his best friend at times. Having a set of good RB's is a good problem to have. James Stewart & Fred Taylor. Fred Taylor and Maurice-Jones Drew. Fournette, Jacobs and/or Sanders? Good problem to have for the next two or three years.

New Orleans took advantage of it two years in a row and they were one terribly missed call away from probably putting up a better fight against the Patriots than the Rams did in that Superbowl. And I'll leave it at that.

That's something, I'll give it that.

Thankfully, I will be at a pub for the pick announcement, might need to preorder an Uber if this is how things play out.

I'll probably throw something through my TV if that happened. Giving up a 3rd to move up 2 spots to secure a tackle from Florida? No thanks. I can't remember the last time they had a top OT in the NFL taken in the first round of any draft class. Humpries hasn't really panned out for the Cardinals. He's been bounced between LT and RT. Can't hold up physically, etc. He was a 24th overall pick though.

Kenyatta Walker also sucked back in the day and he was moved to RT after his rookie season. Those are the only two I can remember from Florida. We had "Baby Boselli" for a minute back in the day too with Mike Pearson I think was his name? But he was a 2nd RD pick I believe. This is a deep OL/DL class too. We could probably get a decent starter RT on day two or three without forking over any picks.

Not saying Taylor will fall to the wayside like those guys did though. But I just don't like the idea of moving up 2 spots to take him. Doesn't make sense. Would rather see Williams out of Alabama in that scenario with the prospect of moving Robinson over to RT instead where his fire and nasty streak would come in handy in the running game on that side.

If we take Taylor at 7 and he lives up to his potential and plays like a top 10 pick. Would it then be the right pick? Probably only 2 RTs I can think of in the league that would possibly be top 10 caliber RTs. Eagles Johnson and Conklin. Both top 10 picks

I don't like the idea of taking a RT with the 7th overall selection. It's not a premier position in the NFL. It's not that it's NOT important. Every starting position in sports is important to an extent. I would rather see that 7th overall selection spent on a guy like Jonah Williams who has actually started at LT and he's coming from a very strong program that netted us Cam Robinson just a few years ago.

Williams had a lot of respect from his teammates at LT. It was reported that they were trying to move him to Center last year but his teammates forced the coaches into keeping him at LT because they trusted him over there. But he's clearly capable of moving around and playing either tackle position. And it'll be a fun battle between him and Robinson for those two starting jobs.

If they go in a completely different direction in a few weeks with that 7th overall pick it wouldn't scare me at all about them not adding an offensive tackle to this team that night because there's plenty of talent in this draft. McGary, Little, Risner and Prince are all solid prospects we could see anywhere between early RD2 - RD3 if we really feel we need to get a true RT on the roster.

My problem is that if they're looking for a little bit more pass protection or run blocking on either side of the football, why not just say [BLEEP] it and take T.J Hockenson there? By all accounts the dude can block. And we're getting an excellent pass catcher at the position which is something we all know Foles will want and need in this offensive system that clearly features the TE position in the receiving game.

Agreed, Hockenson I think will be the best for the team short term and long term.
