Jags interview Jim Schwartz

Serious question.....Did Gus pay out of his own pocket for Jim's fajitas at Applebees, or did he use the corporate card?

Pay no attention to my post count. I had several previous accounts before using the name JaguarsWoman.

Quote:How many do you think she has on the Broncos board?

Less than 50. Somehow it did not feel right to be on a board where everyone only cares about the Broncos because they know a lot more about the team than I do.

Broncos? I thought you supported the Jags and Packers?

Quote:I think in terms of job security Eagles has the advantage also.

If that is true, you can say the same thing about any DC Gus Bradley hires.

Quote:My guess is both parties probably will have to make significant compromises for the working relationship to possibly become a reality. Because Jim Schwartz's  services seem to be in demand elsewhere,  he has leverage.

If significant compromises are necessary, Jim Schwartz would be a bad hire. The HC and DC need to be on the same page.

Quote:Don't know why so many are surprised. Hardly any big names ever come to Jacksonville they're other options out there.

If people are surprised, it is because Schwartz and Bradley ran different defensive schemes. At this point I am just thinking of it as Bradley exploring all options.

Quote:Twitter starting to say he was just hired in Philly.

Gus, bring Rocky Seto in.

Twitter is a bad way to get news reports. All the time people tweet things like this when they have no clue what actually happened. Make sure the tweeter is a credible source.

Who is Rocky Selo?

And Broncos. But the Jaguars will always be my favorite team.

Another national media member is saying the same thing:

So there's still hope.

Eagles defense is ready made for his wide 9 and could have success very early in play.

We may take a season or two to get right.

I think people are overrating the significance of an interview with the Eagles. It is just that, an interview. Wasn't Tom Coughlin their top target for the HC job?

One important question is do we have the right personnel for a Wide 9 scheme? Coaches can't just say, "Let's do it this way," if the players are misfits.

Wide 9 isn't all that much different than the LEO position, but our strong side end may have some trouble fitting in.

We need a good few pieces to be effective in any defense. Eagles have Cox,Graham,Thornton,Curry,Logan, and Barwin as a hybrid all starting caliber D linemen. We have Marks,Miller,Odrick.

Another way to look at this is if one believes that Jim Schwartz would be a far better option than the other Jaguars DC candidates,   compromise could be the difference for Gus Bradley to have a 5th season with the Jaguars.

I mean personnel wise. We need 3 or 4 new players on Dline. Eagles are more than set there.

Ben McAdoo was reportedly the Eagles top candidate,  followed by Tom Coughlin.

Being that Tom Coughlin is no longer in the Eagles picture,  it seems to me that there's great significance from an Eagles and Jaguars standpoint ( if Schwartz is still a candidate for the team's DC position ) that Doug Pederson will interview Jim Schwartz.

Coughlin apparently turned down the Eagles because most of the Assistant Coaches he wanted to hire weren't available.

After we get three guys on the defensive line (obviously one end is already set), how will that compare to Philadelphia's roster?

It is worth noting the Eagles could make some changes on their defensive line now that the Chip Kelly era is over.

The Eagles Secondary needs to be upgraded.   Injuries were numerous for the at CB in 2015 but even if everyone in their Secondary returns relatively healthy,  it's a part of their team that they likely will address in a major way.

On Offense,   the Eagles QB situation is up in the air.   They also can use help at Guard and at WR.

The Eagles could use an upgrade at Kicker as well.

No doubt about that. The first two things I noticed during Philadelphia's season opener were:

1. They were stupid to swap quarterbacks with the Rams.

2. Byron Maxwell is one of the worst starting cornerbacks.

"Big names," "cool names," they always work out here.

Mike Smith became a big name after he got the Falcons job. Did anyone who does not follow the Jaguars know about him before his first interview?

So we don't need a big name coach because if he is good enough, he will become a big name later.
