Texans QB

Quote:Watson at worst is Alex Smith imo.

Agree. He appears to have some legs sort of like Garrard, but that arm of his would have me cringing as a fan. His 48-mph fast ball lets you know he has a weak arm, but worse yet is his horrendous inaccuracy in passing drills.

To me, Alex Smith would be his best case scenario.  I just don't see it happening at the NFL level.

I see more of a Tyrod Taylor.

The MMQB article on how Rick Smith fell in love with Deshaun Watson was laughable.  He attended the Title Game, talked with a lady in the Clemson football office, then crashed a dinner where Watson was eating with some Texans coaches and Cam Robinson.  From a table in the back - "it was like the Godfather, we joked about that" - Smith "summoned Watson" and got a commitment that Watson was going to do everything he could to be the best football player and representative of Houston.

Same team that gave Osweiller $37M without even meeting him.

Yes, tampering rules would have prevented them from doing so prior to free agency actually starting... but look how being so over eager turned out for them.

He reminds me of a very average quarterback, at best.

Same thing I guess.

Yawn again with David Greene, Tim Tebow, Vince Young, Matt Leinart, and Jason White

College records don't mean anything in the Pros.

On a side note, I think Watson will be decent.

He'll be moved to slot receiver within the next 3 years.

It will be interesting to see what Watson looks like when he's asked to go through a progression of reads much more often.
Might take him a while to get that together.

Watching a few of his cut-ups I also notice the tendency to get a bit squirrelly with the overthrows when under pressure. That could spell trouble at the next level for him too.

As a Jaguars fan, that does me no good because Carr often killed us.

Technically, Andre Johnson killed you. Carr just watched where he ran and threw it to him.

I don't see how he could have possibly earned the starting nod at this stage.

He might simply have been named starter if Houston would have gone that route.

He might earn the starting role later in camp/preseason, the regular season, or not at all.

But with Savage, at least we know what we are likely up against week 1.

He's the QB I didn't want for Houston to get this year.
Only a chump boos the home team!

He threw no TDs.

I always felt like that game was more about Gus and the team letting the game get away than Savage being great, but he at least wasn't terrible.
