Then why hasn't any other QB needy team picked him up? He's visited a few of them and no one wants him...Can't be that good if no one wants him

but all the former players now tv analysts say he's the best out there and that he's being blackballed.

the "best" of what's left  doesn't mean GOOD...wasn't Tebow "The Best" at one time but no one wanted him either...Coaches, GMs and owners would pick him up if he was the answer to their QB woes like they did Vick

who has more credibility evaluating talent, message board people or former nfl players. I'd say NFL players. If nfl players say Kaepernick is good, sign him Jaguars.

There aren't many teams that have a starter that CK is actually better than. Most owners don't want to deal with the headache he will bring as a BACKUP.

If "football minds" think he is better than Bortles, he deserves a serious look IMO.

The question was about "QB needy" teams, not about backup.

So how many of these "not many teams" have a starter that CK is better than?  Care to name them?  My immediate thought is perhaps Houston (questionable) or perhaps Miami.

I agree and obviously "football minds" don't think he is the best options for their QB woes or someone would have picked him up...Judging by the number of offers Kap has had, I would bet he couple be picked up cheap, but no one wants him

Marone and Coughlin have no allegiance to Bortles. If he hasn't improved within the first game or two, I can see him being replaced by Henne.

fun fact in 2016 Bortles ran for 3 tds and caught 1
Kaepernick ran for 2 tds

Bortles averaged 244.1 yards a game
Kaepernick avgd 186.8 yards a game

CK59.2 vs BB58.9

Reads defenses better?

that series ended in a safety.

I think you need to watch some CK highlights from last year to see who you are actually rooting for to come here.

Torrey Smith loves his qb on this throw!  He studies film!
Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17
2016 draft players I think will be good
  • On the Fournette train, will be best back of his class 3/6/17
  • Lattimore please,  Lockdowns on both sides would be nice
  • Engram at TE and the MJD clone Samaje Perine

Spike Lee going to bat for him probably isn't helping his potential employment either.

I am guessing he will have a job before the season ends as a result of injury and/or a HC trying to save his job if their season quickly goes south.

I'm thinking he's done, out of the game like Manziel, just different circumstances, I'm also thinking this should be in the other thread before we get hit for derailing this thread

At this point, they should just make Bortles participate in tackling drills if you know what I mean

It's laughable because this whole thing is a big NOTHING BURGER.  UCF Knight is right.  If he cleans up the interceptions and cuts down on his mistakes, he'll be fine.

If...

Nobody wants him because he doesn't represent an upgrade in any sense of the word.  Kaepernik sucked in SF with an offensive guru as his head coach.  He had marginal success under Harbaugh, but never hit the numbers Bortles did in his best season.  Couple that with the distraction caused by his baggage, and the guy simply isn't worth league minimum. That's the reason nobody is signing him.  I'm not quite sure why that eludes some folks.

Can't count how many times I've gotten frustrated with a coworker and said something to them or muttered it, but I'm guessing the ones making the uproar in this thread have never done this. Passion in the heat of the moment is what I chalk it up to. Not every football player is perfect and the ball wont always be in the right spot everytime. It's not automatic as much as some want it to be.

Blake has never been a good practice player. What is most important is, that he finds ways to shine when its time. Rhyme~

However... Accuracy, or lack there of.. Hesitation (holding onto the ball too long).. Bad reads. Poor decisions. Over and under thrown balls (which may fall into the accuracy category) and wobbly ducks. Those things can be concerns heading into the season.

I just hope that Blake can Brett Favre this mug and allow it all to click, with his gun-slinger mentality. He has thrown for a ton of yards and a gang of TD's the last 2 years. Has run for his fair shair too. Come on Blake. We're all rooting for you to just be better in all categories, so this team can start winning some games.

Marone's full comment in context via Mike Kaye

Quote:Marrone understands that he is pushing Bortles to be better. He said he does that with all of his players, from the quarterbacks to the specialists.

Marrone has said in the past that he is never satisfied. He wants Bortles to become more consistent and believes his approach, which included a short period of rest, will eventually make that happen.

"There are some throws that I’ll think, ‘Hey, that’s a good throw,’ and then I’ll be like, ‘That’s a horse [expletive] throw,’" Marrone said. "At the end of the day, I’m just trying to get more and get better. So we rested him the other day. I thought he came back and really had no issues for these two days. That was the goal was to get him out here and get him all that work. I think he’s gotten good work, and I think that him along with the rest of the guys on offense, I want those guys to get better."

And he should unless he has a complete meltdown, he wont have to throw the ball over 600 times again, which he was top 5 in the NFL the last 2 years and he shouldnt have a awful running game this year, that helps alot.

People act like Bortles doesnt do anything right, at the end of the day he is still the last two years 35 td to 18 ints and 23 tds to 16 ints, thats better then most bust QBs, and something Henne never came close to doing in his career but yet people want to put him in.
