The Jags defense is to be taken seriously regardless of the tacks game. Those that have been really paying attention were taking them very seriously prior to week one.

The Jags offense still has much to prove. They managed to spark the run game last week and may continue to do so, but it will get tougher as teams begin to scheme against the more successful run plays in Hackett's arsenal.

Here's hoping continued creativity in blocking schemes involving TEs and FB, plus a possible gadget here and there to Grant can continue the spark on the ground for the Jags.
Bortles handled the game manager role well last week, and we can only hope he isn't asked to do too much this week at home. He's capable of throwing a respectable stat line with Lee, Hurns, Benn etc., but ideally he'll only need to compliment a resurgent run game.

If we have a winning record after week 6 I will consider us to have a legit chance in this weak division. I have trouble getting to a head of myself at this point. Mainly because we have been bad for so long.

The division is not ripe for the taking after only two weeks. We have to sweep the Texans series. History goes against a Colts sweep - it seems like we split them every year.and Luck will be healthy for at least one of those two games. It could come down to the the game in Nashville or conference record tiebreaker.

For me, it's how they play the first 4 games. 4-0 or 3-1 and I'm hopping on the division train! Anything less and I'm just hoping for a competitive team with a 7-9 or 8-8 record.

I agree, I made a overly optimistic prediction of 9-7 in the official thread, but if they go 3-1 to start, I will actually expect them to hit it. Even 2-2 would be hands down better than the previous couple years. We need another couple weeks to figure out if the change is real, or if it was just a one game anomaly.

Thing is Houston is prob the best defense we play all year, they were number 1 last year with JJ Watt missing a lot of games, its pretty crazy to think we are gonna be facing much easier defenses most of the year.

We don't need a three-game lead to be taken seriously. Just beating the Tacks is good enough to prove our win at Houston was not a fluke.

Houston was one of the best pass rushes last season.  The ease with which they were stymied Sunday tells me they are likely not playing at the same level in 2017. 

Their run defense allowed 4 YPC and near 100 yds per game last season, so it was not on the same level as their pass rush. A pass rush that only saw 21 pass attempts Sunday.

The Titans just played a powerful Raiders team and got outclassed. That makes it tough to gauge just how good they really are...

That said, they hung in there and made a game of it. I think the Jags D is going to come down to earth in this game, which I would've expected anyway. Last week was great, but getting hung up on it is a good way to underestimate the next opponent. The titans don't have a Savage-esque quarterback. Mariota is getting better every year.

But if the Jags can shut down that offense, then yes, I might be inclined to take this team more seriously. But a win would speak more volume.
