Rache -  Ha-Ha.  I know it seems odd but sometimes you just want " a beer."  And good ole PBR is always just that. (and he was referencing the discussion between Drifter and myself about Pabst) There's a really cool new spot in my hood that does craft cocktails and they have a couple of really cool old school English gins that aren't common in the states.  I will probably have a drink there one night this week and get beck to you on those.  My best bud said he had an amazing gin drink there last night.

Quote:It's in the context, Rachel:

   - an expensive, fine scotch while sitting by the fire watching the snow fall in the New England woods

   - a couple of dollar PBRs while hanging at the Elks on Hot Dog Monday

Then again, a PBR by the fire has been known to happen too.

I get it, I get it. I'm just too picky. I know this to be true.

I'm usually a fan of Islay scotches, but I did try Talisker for the first time the other week and I liked it. As for the Johnnie Walkers...never below Black Label. The double black is a nice alternative they've come out with recently.

I know, I was only yapping, I don't even have a fireplace. I didn't even know they made a double black, probably just aged the black longer. Talisker is my overall fav, it's got that smokiness but it's not as prominent as that of Lagavulin.

Drifter- I haven't had Chivas in a long time but remember it as being good, similar to Glenlivet maybe; cigars would be a whole 'nother topic. I've had a few Cubans but find them too harsh.

I have the Montecristo No 1's, they are an excellent cigar (smooth tasting and burning) and they go well with a nice scotch.

That is a good cigar. I like the Romeo y Julietas and, of course, Cohiba Red Dot (too expensive even though I don't smoke many in a year anyway.

I don't really have am opinion on the Chivas, but it's blended so most Scotch aficionados kinda thumb their nose at it.

It's all in what you like, Chivas is a well made scotch and probably worth the money. A lot of people like it.

I used to be picky about beer and did 10 years of not drinking the legacy beers, focusing mainly on craft type beers. Since the DUI thing got ramped up, I switched over to Coors Light and find it easy to drink, decent enough taste and never get a buzz b/c I watch the volume vs time (and avoid the often offered shot of whatever!).

Now I've even switched the home beer to Coors regular with a seasonal 6-12 pack of a craft beer to change it up.

Whatever's comfortable.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Oh that wasn't one of my uppity comments...I just don't like SoCo.

Switch it out for some Wild Turkey or Makers and I'll be there with ya.

Yeah the 101 is a little rough. The 81 or 83 whatever tastes better.

Blah to Wild Turkey and to Southern Comfort.

I had my first taste of Fireball last night and liked it, it surprised me as it was around 60 proof. There was a guy at the bar had a glass of an apple ale with a shot of Fireball in it.

Fireball is super popular here right now but it's way to sweet for me.

Fernet is also really popular - lucky me.

The Wild Turkey label carries a vividly printed, seemingly engraved illustration of its namesake. In the USA, five varieties of the bourbon are generally available: 81 proof (formerly 80 proof), 101 proof, Kentucky Spirit, Russell's Reserve, and Rare Breed.[
