Is it time to worry about Fournette?

He's had a far better first season then Melvin Gordon so I'm not worried about him.

This is an above average line. The play-calling hurts a lot. A middle draw on 95% of 1st downs is horribly predictable and ineffective.

Obviously Fournette isn't at their level. Not many are. But when you draft a RB top 5 that is what you are hoping for. I'm still glad Fournette is on our team. And if we can ever develop a consistent passing game, Fournette will become really dangerous. I'm pretty confident we havent seen the best of him. ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. Draft philosophy is all fluff.
Fournette was not the problem today.
The passing game was a huge problem. Not because the team would not attack downfield. Because the team did not execute in downfield passes, especially everything to Westbrook. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

BUT, I want to see PA on 1st down or a pass mixed in instead of a middle-draw on every first down in the 1st half of games. Hackett has been horribly predictable lately in spite of calling some really good games in the middle of the season. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Since week 6 he can't find and hit the hole anymore. That injury against the Rams looked like he may have ruined his knee or ankle. He still looks like an average back but he wasn't drafted to be average. I'd give him an offseason to actually get 100% before calling him a bust. He's playing through issues obviously because he was getting held out every other week. Should have rested him today. This offensive line isn't doing anybody any favors either. I thought the pass protection was pretty solid outside of a couple where we got sacked.
No pain, no gain.
He can't seem to find the open hole. He constantly runs right into the back of a linemen then falls down. When he hits the hole, he is fine, but hitting the hole is the issue. Most of the time there isn't even an attempt to cut.

Trent Richardson: 950 yards, 11 TD after one season he's had the two long runs vs Rams and Steelers, but other than that, I can't recall many runs where I'm like 'wow, this guy is special' (12-31-2017, 09:18 PM)Jaguar Warrior Wrote: He can't seem to find the open hole. Yep today he was spinning instead of just cutting to the left or right when there was a big hole outside. Henry does a good job of cutting outside if you collapse the middle, Fournette doesn't really ever try to cut it outside.
Whoever says this line is fine have not been watching. The Titans controlled the LOS today. There was literally no where to run most of the time. The line was getting blown up while Wells got abused . This line needs upgrades at the Tackle and Guard posiitons.

I expected the offense to be vanilla today because they had a chance to play Titans next week. You can’t show all your cards.
Fournette is not the problem. Bad reads, drops and poor execution were the problems today.
Fournette certainly needs to improve his vision, but the biggest problem is how Hackett uses him.
We had success with screens, but they decided to keep running up the middle and passes to the outside during blitzes. Robinson will be back next week and healthier. Line will play better. |
