Browns apparently want Johnny Manziel

Is anyone else just astonished by how stupid JaguarsWoman is? Not only that but she projects a pompous and condescending attitude through her posts that literally never cease to amaze me. Bravo.

You obviously do not understand my concern that the Texans will pick Teddy, making the best quarterback available at #3 Johnny Manziel if the Browns do not trade up, is legit. If you don't see a high risk of the Browns leapfrogging us for Manziel, you have been hiding under a rock. It is crystal clear they would do that if they like him and think we do too.

Show me proof I am stupid if you want to avoid joining a few other posters on my ignore list. I changed my username because my football knowledge made some people think I am male.

Actually, no.   I've grown to respect the fact that we have a few females here posting with a vast amount of football knowledge.   I don't necessarily agree with JW all of the time but then again, I don't agree with a lot of the posters.  I've seen a lot more condescending posts coming from most of the people that actively participate on this board.  I think you just notice it more because it's coming from a chick.

I am not a chick FYI. Never was, never will be. I am just a single woman who loves the NFL and three of its teams.

Who says Manziel is the next best QB? I personally think Bortles is better than Manziel and would rather draft him.

Don't worry about yourself. I don't even know you yet.

Now let's get back to the topic.

Who won the Heisman Trophy as a redshirt freshman? Johnny Manziel.

Who was mostly unknown before UCF became a good team? Blake Bortles.

I am sure there is a very good reason for that discrepancy.

I really wish that we could have legit discussions on a variety of NFL draft topics/positions/players/etc, and not only the 1000000 Manziel threads.

Some nice topics about WR, TE, pass rusher, and RB have all come and gone w/ very little discussion cause everyone is making the same dumb Manziel arguments back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth.

Winning the Heisman does not translate to QB success in the NFL. And Bortles was an unknown to THE MEDIA, he's been on NFL scouts radars for a long time.

If you want to talk about other positions, start your own threads. There is nothing wrong with the discussions about Johnny Manziel.

Bortles was not even a Heisman finalist.

Why didn't the media know about him until last year if he was better than Manziel?

you wanted examples? There is example #1. That person was being sarcastic because the threat of being on your ignore list is a joke and you were too dumb to understand that.

the draft will play out in time, the idea of worrying about things that you can't control or predict is silly. Saying things like its fact that Caldwell thinks clowney will be a bust is ridiculous. Not a person here knows what he thinks.

i don't care if you are a man or woman. I just don't know where you learned to call people stupid from your high horse but can't even tell what simple sarcasm is.

Now let's get back to the topic.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Tebow was a Heisman winner and look how his nfl career turned out...

Give me a list of all the great qbs who won the heisman.

Wanna know who made ucf good? Hint: It's blake Bortles. And just because you didn't know about him doesn't mean anything. Plenty of people knew Bortles had the potential to be very good(last year).

Well, the stat is Tebow is the only one of the last 16 Heisman winning QBs to win a playoff game...so that says enough right there I think.

I hope the Browns love Manziel enough to jump us for him, but after seeing Caldwell's first draft I think he's a pretty good judge of QB talent.  He refused to waste a pick on a QB last year and I do believe he does not have Manziel ranked high either.

I don't get the love for Manziel.  He's a Heisman ?  He should be, he has most offensive talent around him than any other QB (I don't see anyone hyping McCarron like Manziel?  He wins and puts up big numbers).  He'll sell tickets?  So will winning.  He looked amazing against Duke ?  (Tom Savage 23-33 424 yds and 6 tds.  Stephen Morris 30-49 379 yds and 2tds)  He's beaten the most talented teams?  (Texas A&M has had lots of 1st round picks and more coming out this year.  They should be beating talented teams)

His scrambling won't translate into the NFL because of his size.  He does not have a strong arm.  He can loft the ball up to Evans and wind up and throw it far, but on the short passes and intermediate routes... way too much air under the ball.  He makes too many bad decisions.

Can he become a good NFL QB?  yeah... if you build the team around him.  If you surround him with high level WRs (like Evans), high level tackles (like Matthrews, Jockel)  and make sure you run a very fast pace offense.

So were Vinny Testaverde and Carson Palmer. I am sure an older fan would be able to name several others.

So has Jason White, Eric Crouch, Matt Leinart, and Troy Smith.  Winning the Heisman means nothing in grading a prospect for the NFL.

That's your reasoning?! My lord...

Tom Brady was an unknown and didn't win the Heisman. So was Roethlisberger....

The Heisman goes to the best college football player (like Eric Crouch or Mark Ingram) not the person who will be the best pro. College and the NFL are vastly different and if you don't understand that, no one can take what you say seriously.

Misleading stat. Carson Palmer did not win a playoff game because he tore up his knee on his first pass attempt and the Bengals struggled to play with a backup quarterback. That was a home game in the wild card round.

Tom Brady was very well-known. What makes you think he wasn't?

I understand there is a difference between college football and the NFL That does not mean we should all assume because many Heisman Trophy winners sucked in the NFL, the award should be a deterrant.

Questoin: If Johnny Manziel is not better than Blake Bortles, why are the Browns zeroing in on him for their #4 pick?
