According to Vito-Jags should be $50+mil under Salary Cap

Quote:6 million per year wouldn't bring Byrd to town. More realistically it would cost 9 million/year 22 million+ guaranteed looking at the contracts signed by Polumalu and Golston (the 2 highest paid safeties currently.)
We're saying the same thing.  I didn't say that's what he'll get paid. (5.5 million)   I said that I, personally, don't know if he's worth more than that.  I fully expect someone to pay him much more.

Caldwell said he doesn't want positions to get worse. Losing Meester, need to replace him with Mack? Who else are we losing? MJD may need to be replaced either in FA or the draft. Same with Babin (his contract is up yes?). These aren't stars, but losing them will make us worse. We need to find people as good, preferably better

Whoever said new year same posts is 100% right. Another year of high expectations and disappointment for the FA droolers. Byrd and the pass rushers are all going to get damn near all time high contracts for their position.

Is it worth 13-15 mil or possibly even higher AAV for Orakpo, Johnson, or Hardy? And around 9 AAV for Byrd? Massive heck no for Byrd...plain no for Orakpo...and for Hardy or Johnson maaaaaaybe. Unfortunately we'll never find out because there's like a 1% chance Dave is going to start handing out record tying/breaking contracts.

Please start lowering expectations to nice value guys like De La Puenta and Schofield. That's where the value/talent will match what Dave has said multiple times that he is looking for.

$50m under the cap.

247 - points scored

449 - points against

Momentum?  we lost our last 3 games.

Center - Guard - LB - + a veteran in the secondary.

(the above is assuming we get a QB & DE or 2 early in the draft).

Aaron Kampman. Paul Posluszny. Clint Session. Dawan Landry. Drew Coleman.

This team has jumped on some high priced free agents recently, I wouldn't quite say we're not gonna go out and try and sign some guys.

Is McFadden a FA? Is he worth anything to replace MJD?

Only if you want to see him play 7 games a season.

Huh

I understand where youre coming from, but Caldwell has to spend sooner or later. We are not near the 89% bench mark and we dont have any good players that are going to be worth big deals.... You have to spend somewhere.

Thats what scares me.....what if they just overpay some of the average players already here to long term overpriced deals, just to reach that 89% mark....

I'm thinking maybe we go after Mack and a guy like Bennett in free agency and I wouldn't be shocked if Caldwell gives a extension to Cecil this off season

I hope he doesn't overpay Cecil. He hasn't been able to finish either of the last 2 seasons. Durability is a concern.

We need to sign G, C, DE, FS

And you can do that without getting in cap trouble, we need a deep roster, you cant have a roster full of rookies and 2nd year players

Ya me either but Cecil is a solid number 2 wr moving forward and still very young, I'd love to see him stay around here with a deal similar to senderick money

I have a great seat at the stadium, and it seems like every game I watch WRs from other teams and they look so much better than anything we've had for years.   Cecil Shorts is an okay WR, but there is a boatload of talent out there that is as good as he is.  I sure as heck would not break the bank to keep an average WR.

I think it is a valid concern. Caldwell is not gene Smith, that's the good news. Additionally, it should give us hope that Gus knows what he's doing. Remember the Monroe trade that had many of us scratching our heads? Instead of overpaying to try and keep him a Jaguar, he got what he could for him. That's a good sign. I'm gonna give Gus the benefit of the doubt this off-season, let's see what he does

Quote: He's going to get a few guys from Seattle they won't be able to keep due to their own cap issues.

There's actually a much better chance of him signing one or two of these three starters from NEW ENGLAND.

WR - Edelman

RB - Blount

C -  R. Wendell

Belichick won't re-sign all three. Probably only the center if the past is any indication.
