Browns apparently want Johnny Manziel

That has to be the pick there, if you cant trade down.

No chance we get a lot of picks in any trade down. We already have 10 not including CPs.

I am not saying we don't need more picks. I just think Caldwell is not going to insist on a Julio Jones type trade to move down.

Quote:I really don't think somebody is going to jump us if Houston doesn't pick a QB 1st overall.  Look at the order after us and ask yourself who would be willing, and have the picks, to trade all the way up to 2.

3.  Jags

4.  Cleveland - Why would they trade up if Houston doesn't take a QB?  Makes no sense

5.  Oakland - Honestly I don't see them trading up.  I think they're trading down if they can because they're still in cap hell and trading down would let them add more cheap young players

6.  Atlanta - May trade up, but not for a QB

7.  Tampa - Rolling with Glennon unless something changes between now and then.

8.  Minnesota - They may be willing to trade up for a QB if they think that they don't have their guy by now.  They still have both Cassel and Ponder.

9.  Buffalo - No

10. Detroit - No

11. Flaming Thumbtacks - Maybe, but I don't know if they have the picks to go up that far

12. Giants - No

13. St. Louis - why would they since they already have #2 thanks to washington

14. Chicago - No

15. Pittsburgh - No

So relax people.  I really don't think we're gonna have a problem with somebody jumping us for Teddy if Houston doesn't go QB with the #1 pick, which I don't think they do.  They're going to be in cap hell if they cut Schaub (over $10mil in dead cap space if they do per Alfie).  That's why I don't think Houston goes QB #1.  I think they take Clowney.

Raiders are actually way out of salary cap hell. I think they're like $56+ million under like we are.

No chance? No chance at all?

Before the 2011 draft, did you think Atlanta would give up all that for Julio? I doubt you did.

Why do you care what the Jags do anyway? Your Broncos are in the AFC championship and your Packers have Rodgers.

The rest of us will worry about the ONE team we root for.

The number of picks Caldwell already has amassed to date (10) for the draft, will not deter him from desiring additional picks in a trade down scenario. He would have no problem using as many as he can garner.

The number and responding value of the picks he would request from a trade partner would depend upon how far the move down (and corresponding value lost).

All I am saying is he won't tell a team something like, "Julio Jones trade or I'm not doing it." If a team is only willing to give him two picks, he will be happy with that.

if he does that he's an idiot, why would he skip out on getting an elite player without adequate compensation?

I did not know the Falcons wanted Julio Jones. In fact I had no idea they needed a wide receiver.

You are wrong about "the rest of us."  Why do you think Calvin Johnson is D6's avatar? He is a Lions fan. I remember someone else said he likes Seattle. Maybe nobody else likes three teams, but there are some other who like two. And having Denver in the playoffs does not mean I don't care what the Jaguars do.

"Adequate compensation" depends on how far down you would go in a trade. For moving down only a few spots, just the second rounder is enough. Caldwell would certainly want a lot of picks if it is to drop out of the top 10, but I don't see that happening.

If you're just getting a second rounder, you better only be moving down from 3 to 5.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

That's my whole point. You cant say there is "no chance" Caldwell gets lots of picks because YOU have no clue.

People can root for whomever they want but the fact you wanted the Broncos to beat the Jags probably means you should spend more time on their board than this one.

Actually that was all we gave the Redskins to move up 6 spots.

And we only gave a fourth to the Buccaneers to leapfrog the Rams.

Now let's get back to Johnny Manziel.

Didn't the Bucs move down 2 spots in a trade with Jax for only a 4th rounder?

Yes they did. I was very surprised about that one.

That was for the 5th pick, not the 3rd.

As for the Redskins trade, it was still a smaller difference than moving from 3rd to 4th going by the draft value chart.

Pick 3: 2200 points

Pick 5: 1700 points

Pick 6: 1600 points

Pick 7: 1500 points

Pick 10: 1300 points

Pick 16: 1000 points

The pick we traded to the Redskins to move up was worth 410 points

The pick we traded to the Buccaneers to move up was worth just 96 points.

Of course the point values are subjective, and not 100% reliable.  But obviously trading down from 3 to 6 ought to get you more than trading down from a later pick.

I visited several message boards for relevant teams...it sure looks like the Texans are leaning heavily toward drafting Johnny Manziel. Based on thread-size Manziel will be the Texans' first pick.

St. Louis GM Snead has zero interest in Manziel or Bridgewater. They have scouted both for the sole purpose of determining market value.

So Manziel gone at one. Bridgewater possibly gone at two to an unknown team.

You have to be a complete idiot to think the fans n a forum are any indication of what a front office is going to do lol.

How many pro Eric Fisher threads do you think Chief fans had?
