Kiper Mock Draft

#21

Quote:Mack over Clowney?! Are you on that blue stuff from Breaking Bad?

I wouldn't take Mack over Barr let alone over Clowney.
Texans are getting Clowney

Alot of smoke and mirrors by ESPN

Quote:No, it's not the same at all. Not even a little.

Yes, its pretty darn similar.  You are making things up. You dont know that ESPN tells them where to put players.

Kiper and Mcshay live off being somewhat correct on where people are drafted.  They are bound to have disagreements on where people go.  If you and I had a mock draft come out today, we could talk about our differences for weeks.

Quote:Defensive end is a more premium position than linebacker. We haven't had a good pass rusher since Tony Brackens was still on the roster.
It's different for our defensive scheme. Our LEO does not have to be a DE and Mack has the versatility to do everything we want our LEO to do in a similar manner to Seattle. Clowney probably doesn't.

Barr is no where near Mack. He's all ceiling and there's no guarantee he will ever reach it. Mack is more versatile than Clowney which is why he'd be a better fit for this defensive scheme.

I agree, imo Mack may be the best defensive player in this draft.

Bridgewater would be a major coup at the 3rd spot though. Especially if the Texans take Manziel.

It will be us and the Dolts for the next 10-15 years Smile))))))))

Non-sense! Mincey was good that one game against the Browns

Quote:I think everyone and their mother knows we need a QB and pass rusher. Those are the only 2 positions i have seen mocked to the Jags so far.
Then this year is a complete aberration in this regard, and it just so happens tha Jaguars are at the top of the board, and the two positions of greatest value at the top of the board this year are at QB and DE/pass rusher.

In normal years, it isn't even close.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

He actually did look good for the Broncos on Sunday.

Quote:It's ESPN doing what they do. Manufacture a story to create buzz, debate, segments, etc. Major load of crap that there is no way Kiper actually thinks. 100% it was the suits coming to him and telling him to cause a stir, and sure enough very first segment on the noon SportsCenter OMG MANZIEL #1 YAY JFF SLOBBER. So predictable and infuriating. That's why I scream from the mountains the first step to learning about the draft is to turn off the TV.

Of course it's to create buzz - that's why we watch it.  I like that they create a buzz and create excitement.. otherwise the offseason would be unbearable.

Not calling you out specifically, but I find amateur draft snobs even more annoying.  It's hard to create a mock draft 4-5 months prior to the draft and not have people criticize you.

What exactly is someone supposed to "learn about the draft"?  I don't find any of the other "draft gurus" any more accurate in their player analysis or their predictions, to be honest.

These mock drafts are before the Senior Bowl, before the combine, and before anybody's pro-day.

Heck, before free agency even.

They do mock drafts because it's fun.

No need to criticize the person creating the mock draft at all.  Don't like Kiper?  Great, don't read his stuff and don't watch him.  Noone takes what he says as gospel anyway.  Personally I think most people who are really "into" the draft are jealous of guys like Kiper and McShay, who get paid tons of money for doing what other people do as hobbies.

Quote:That's not the point, there is just no way a reputable draftnik would put his 11th ranked prospect and #3 QB at #1

Of course there's a way.  I don't think the #3 QB on your board going #1 overall is that farfetched.

If you rank your #1,2,and #3 QBs close - and find that the #1 team may like the #3 quarterback the most, of course it's possible he will go #1 overall.

This many people mocking different things at #1 overall indicates that there may not be a clear-cut #1 guy this year.  Similar to last year.  There just are no Andrew Lucks this year.

It makes the "Tanking for Teddy" seem a little more silly day by day.  I admit I wanted us to have the #1 pick overall, but I can't be mad at my team for improving and winning some games this year.  I'm glad we're not like the Vikings.

Nah last year Joeckel was the clear cut #1 until about 2 weeks before the draft when everyone jumped on Fishers nuts.

Just curious, but why? Are you one of the ones who wants us to take a QB just to take one?

I think he really believes that Teddy B is just that good and we have had terrible QB's for such a long time. I somewhat share that opinion and I don't see why people get so butt hurt when someone posts what they believe. I for one believe taking "a QB just to take one.." is taking the best available 2nd or 3rd round QB who's there just to fill a need and may be less likely to succeed. Just my opinion.
