I put a good 7-8 hours into it. It's great. If you liked 4, you'll like this one. I really like the premise so far, I'll definitely be buying it in the near future.

I never played co-op on 4, but I think this would be extremely fun with a buddy.

I loved the "secondary" bad guy of Vaas Montenegro in 3.

The cult leader in 5-and the community as a whole-is creepy...but I'm still very early in the game.

Just got off the island.  Not sure which of the three I am currently after because I haven't played in a couple of days.

I like the previous FarCry versions. Is this one worth the $70? Looks like a pretty twisted story line.

Too soon for me to tell, but so far it looks good and plays well.

For someone who has zero experience or knowledge of the FarCry series... pitch me the quick sell. What's to like/dislike about it?

To give you an idea of what I like, my favorite games are things like the original Tomb Raider series, GTAV (though I felt San Andreas is as good as any,) Red Dead Redemption, the Uncharted series, and Last of Us.

I'm not so big into online battle royale, etc like Fortnite, or any of the military games (COD and Battlefield.) I'm more into single player stories that include those elements in missions.

Caveat:  I have only played two of the games-far Cry 3 and Far Cry 5.

It is considered a FPS, but I think it is more than that.

Not much in the way of platform jumping a la Tomb Raider or some parts of Uncharted.

The Far Cry games function quite well as single person stories, though they have on line multi player functions as well.

Unlike the Uncharted series, the Far Cry series involves different characters and different settings.  Far Cry 3 takes place on a tropical Island.  I believe Far Cry 4 takes place in Asia.  Far Cry 5 takes place in Montana.

Caution:  the review contains profanity-both from the reviewer and the actual game clips.

If you can get past some of the silliness of the reviewers, Angry Joe provides a good review of Far Cry 3, which contains many of the same game play elements found in Far Cry 5.

Typically, Far Cry games offer a detailed story with typically well developed bad guys and fun, if violent game play.

I'm going to have to pick up a copy of an old version to try. Keeping it away from my son of course, lol.

I've seen Far Cry 3 on the PS Network.  If you are using X Box or a PC, I'm pretty sure you could get a copy from somewhere.

On Far Cry 3, it is quite satisfying to set a land mine on a road, and either watch someone drive over it, or go elsewhere and hear the pirates meet their doom.

But Vaas Montenegro is a major pain in the [BLEEP].  I cannot possibly overstate it.  When I finally killed him, it was, without question, one of the most satisfying video game victories I have ever had, and I go back to Pong.

4 was great. The villain in there is pretty good, character wise.

I think you'd enjoy the series based on your gaming tastes. While it's more run and gun than puzzle solving, there's so much stuff to do. You can spend literal days not even doing the story missions, and on the same token, the story is really good.

Not to mention the games just look gorgeous.

So far it feels like they improved most everything. And no more [BLEEP] radio towers to climb

I'm kinda surprised I like it because I typically suck at FPS games like Call of Duty.  I think as long as there are some shooting elements in games like Uncharted or The Last of Us, I'm okay...but if the whole game is dominated by the FPS I suck at it.

But you are right...the graphics on the Far Cry games I have played have been top notch, and they really take the time to develop compelling villains and stories based upon what I've seen.

Pretty fun so far. Loaded up on specialist. The cut scenes are long.

(lack of) Progress report.

I died trying to liberate Falls End.

I completed the orchard and bears side quests.

I skipped around to get specialist. I went back to Falls End and had no problem liberating it.

I liked it pretty good hour wise took around 40 to complete mostly everything.

The story started good and fizzled the villains are not great spread the focus on too many but i liked the 2 endings. Liked it about the same as 3 and 4. I hated farcry primal.

I'll probably wait for a price drop. Still haven't beaten FC4, and never played any of the earlier games. But it's on my 'get to it eventually' list.

I'm getting fed up with these stupid capture parties. The timed escape events get old.
