Several teams cool on Teddy Bridgewater
|
Quote:After watching youtube highlights of Bridgewater. He has a funny throwing motion when the ball is behind his shoulder and up to his release. It looks like a looping motion with a hitch. Weak velocity on his throws. Lots of short passes to the flat and screens. Very slim build, looks like a skinny WR. He will slide down the NFL team's draft boards. i.e. Geno Smith. Thing is...Geno Smith wouldn't have slid that far if there wasn't concerns regarding his ability to lead a team, much less a franchise. He was far from a perfect prospect, but he would have been a 1st round pick if he had a character trait that Manning has. We show less advertisements to registered users. Thats weird when i watch Draftbreakdown's single game reels of just his throws i see a QB who consistently hits the intermediate throws with a touch that no other college QB displays. I see a QB consistently flick the ball 20-30 yards with little to no effort and one who constantly adjusts plays to mirror what he reads the defense doing. No matter how much people try to nitpick he is the best QB in this draft and worthy of a top 5 selection. His work ethic and film study have drawn praise from GMs,Scouts and even opposing teams coaches and players and it isnt just smoke and mirrors his mental ability actually shows up on the field.

Quote:Smokescreen. Desperate attempt to initiate draft slide by team in bottom half of 1st round. The smokescreen has been the Teddy hype. Everyone after Clowney has let it run wild. Only now is the truth starting to trickle in.

Wait until after the NFL scouting combine, when we will know what all of his physical traits are and how fast he can run.
Quote:20 - 30 yards is not that very far, even for Steve Walsh. Huh?? If your QB is consistently completing passes of even 15-30 yards at a time, your team is going to be one of the most explosive offenses in the league. Thats into the red zone in 3-4 plays on average.

Quote:That is why arm strength is overrated - you don't need to throw 30 yards on every play. I do agree arm strength can be overrated. Accuracy is much more important. Teddy is very accurate. Likely is the QB with the most consistently good ball placement in the draft.

Thats into the red zone in 3-4 plays on average. The orignal poster said Bridgewater flicks the ball 15 - 30. I'm talking about arm strength. A lot of QBs can flick a ball 15 -30 yards even the avg to weak armed ones.
I don't know how some of you don't see it. The league only has a few elite QBs the rest are game managers, back ups or just good solid QBs and in our eyes and those teams its not good enough. You can draft a Leinart, Bradford, Gabbert or Bridgewater over and over but you can get the same production from a later pick. Or you can draft a Jamarcus Russell, Cam Newton, Kaepernick or Manziel and hope they become something special.
Its about upside and it should be, because if those players don't pan out or their games dont translate you notice almost immediately, as opposed to having to wait 3 years to see if it works out. I think Manziel will be gone early, so the best scenario I see is drafting 2 QBs later like 3 and 5 and see which one is better. We show less advertisements to registered users. I agree "any pro QB can merely flick the ball 15-30 yards".....thats why I said "consistently complete 15-30 yarders." Teddy has the ability to do the latter. I've seen it. It's ok it's not for everyone.

It doesn't surprise me, honestly. He isn't even 200 pounds. While he's a good QB, I simply don't think he will look the same when he steps into the NFL arena. I don't think he'll hold up, and I suspect that the NFL GMs that have said this may have the same reasoning.
Dude could prove me wrong, but if I were the Jags GM, I would pass.
What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
tbh if Teddy slips and isn't viewed as a first rounder, some team will take him in the first, but if it's not until the Middle of the first, and no teams take a qb before him, there's actually a good chance that we could trade up into the bottom of the first to grab manziel or bortles, which I would sacrifice our second rounder and something else in order to achieve this.

If Teddy does slide past the 3rd we have morons running the front....
If that RV sales place wants Tebow in Jax bad enough to take out a billboard saying as much.....they should just HIRE him.
