Quenton Meeks

Why did he go undrafted again? Is he in the mix for nickel or will he play strictly outside?

Meeks is a very big corner, and if there is a hole to pick in his very impressive athletic profile it would be his lateral agility. I think he'd struggle in the slot. Outside or a potential shift to FS is far more likely.
FS seems to make some sense for Meeks. I figured him for early sixth round. Nice UDFA pick-up there. Excited to see what he can do on ST in the meantime.
Even though I don't really like him at nickel at all I wouldn't be surprised if he outperformed Hayden there.

I could see him beating out Hayden for the nickel job. Also a potential backup FS.
I see him making the squad for sure.
On the last Jag's Thursday show, Lageman indicated he liked Dee Delaney more than Quenton Meeks. He wasn't a Meeks fan.
I've not seen Meeks play, so I have no opinion on him.
Quenton Meeks draft situation was really interesting and somewhat similar to Lazard.
On pretty much every mock draft he was projected in the middle rounds, sometimes later rounds. On every sb nation blog or other teams forums I've read people kept projecting him in the 3rd-4th-5th,some even late 2nd early 3rd. I know it doesn't mean too much as it's just fans evaluations but still I don't remember anyone predicting he could have gone undrafted. He was even in Mayock top 100 players for this draft (same thing with Allen Lazard really) We'll see how he performs, I also see some traits that could project him at FS eventually. Defensive backs battle will be really interesting this year.
I wonder could we turn him into a TE stopper? While he will probably struggle with the smaller shiftier types , I think he has the perfect profile to match up with TEs. He's big and more athletic than most of them.
For example, next year we will be facing Eric Ebron flexed out to the slot for the colts a lot. I'd much prefer Meeks to play him than Hayden. Not sure how you would manage the substitutions and counters from the offense but I'm really starting to consider him as being the man for slot. If an offense wants to beat us with short passes to the slot then so be it..... We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Not really sure why he went undrafted either. When I was scouring around for rankings I found him ranked 14th overall on Scott Wright's NFLDraftCountDown page and he also had Lazard ranked 14th overall as well. On Walterfootball's page they made a note that Meeks had basically under performed as a Jr. and that some people felt he should have stayed another year. He's got great size and ability overall.
He may be able to find a spot on the totem pole and there's no real pressure on him to start or anything like that. He's going to be able to learn from the best tandem in the NFL right now at the CB position too. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie?
