Several teams cool on Teddy Bridgewater

Quote:If Teddy does slide past the 3rd we have morons running the front.... Don't forget for all we know the Jaguars might prefer Johnny Manziel, who Gil Brandt thinks is the top prospect overall, and pick him if both guys are available. Some people crack me up on this board...are people really advocating we take a guy in the 3rd and 5th and see who is better (or sucks less)...I also find it funny that people who are talking about waiting and taking a QB later are also some of the first people to whine about our current situation. News flash...we have 5th round talented QBs already on the roster.
You can't keep ignoring or doing a very sub par job of addressing (and that is what taking guys later and hoping is) the most important position in sports...If we don't draft a guy then Caldwell needs to make a move to get an actual proven QB in here who can be our guy...if he doesn't he is out of a job in less than 2 years...not because he didn't draft a guy but because our record under him will be abysmal and I can see Khan moving on. The guys we have here are nothing short of hot garbage...and that may be insulting hot garbage. We have to address the spot...if we take a guy this year at 3 and have a shot at Winston next year...guess what...we can draft him too...We are not winning a SB without a QB...no matter if draft Clowney and he is next coming of Reggie White...it will not matter.
We have 3 choices. This draft class is very weak. There are only 3 QBs, that should be considered in the 1st round. Teddy is the best hands down. Manziel is boom or bust. Bortles has the prototypical skillset but is a late riser that will be drafted mostly on his measurables.
so, 1. Draft one of the 3. 2. Draft a QB later and hope they develop into Brady or Wilson. 2b. Buy a Lotto ticket. 3. Wait til next year and hope we can get one of the QBs. Its likely Winston and Mariota will be gone. Hundley and Petty should be available. I'm assuming we go 5-11, 6-10 at best. but by next year this time the draft class wil be weak yet again so rinse and repeat. By 2029 I predict the next cant miss prospect will appear. The Jaguars will go 7-9 and miss him.

Quote:NFL | Several teams cool on Teddy Bridgewater Those nay-sayers suggesting this is a ploy to make Teddy Bridgewater a first round sinker are also the most likely suspects in lofting him to the top of the first round, a place he doesn't belong. Seeing is believing? I doubt it since this is the SECOND time this has come up...here Read and try to retain: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000...-overhyped NFL media draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah says that if Louisville junior quarterback Teddy Bridgewater decides to turn pro, he will be "elevated above his ability." "He's not in the same class as some of the elite guys we've seen come out over the last few years," Jeremiah said this week on Fox Sports' Peter Schrager Podcast. "He's not Cam [Newton], he's not Andrew Luck. I liked 'RG3' [Robert Griffin III] better when he came out, as well. I do like him better than anyone we had in last year's draft class. If he does come out, I see him getting elevated above his ability." Fellow NFL Network pro scouting expert Charles Davis hits the nail directly on the head.... NFL Media draft analyst Charles Davis said on the same podcast that he likes Bridgewater "a bunch." But he also said, "I'm not sure he's a top-10 guy, but I think he may get picked in the top 10." Davis said quarterbacks often get overrated because if an NFL team doesn't have a guy it can count on at the position, "You're in trouble. I think sometimes we artificially boost these guys up because people are just terrified. What's the alternative? What do we do? Where do we go?" Bridgewater is not elite, franchise quarterback talent. Picks are assets. Get the best available player you can possibly get with the pick. Taking a less talented player makes you less talented.

Getting Bridgewater is a robbery past the first overall pick. I hope Caldwell keeps up the jedi mind tricks. A team may bite
The guy can play Quarterback. Forgetting all the metrics, motions, whatever. He's a great QB. It's idiotic to pick a player based on how he looks. Idiotic.

Teddy is an absolute upgrade over Gabbert and Henne. His upside in the NFL is unknown at this time, but he has strengths in many of the critical attributes of a successful NFL QB. If available, and if he is the highest ranked QB on Dave's board, he will take him.
I like Bridgewater, I think he is worth the 1st overall pick over Colwney. I will be happy if we pick him and unhappy if the tinhorns or the tacks take him.
If Caldwell pass, so be it, we don't know anything about what is going on in war rooms anyway, no need to worry about it. Saying that reports that agree with your opinion are the truth and reports disagreeing are smokescreens on the other hand, now that is funny.
Quote:By 2029 I predict the next cant miss prospect will appear. The Jaguars will go 7-9 and miss him. I agree with most of what you posted, but would like to amend your last point. It should read: By 2029 I predict the next cant miss prospect will appear. The Jaguars defeat the Tacks in a meaningless game for both teams, achieving short term "good feels" and putting the Tacks in position to draft said prospect.
Quote:Seeing is believing? I doubt it since this is the SECOND time this has come up...here Do you get paid to post that guys stuff around the interwebs? Seriously, you must have posted links to that same one guys opinion 10 times now. I hope you're getting a cut on that. And so both of these links are comments from the same source? Shocking then that it's come up twice. I wonder if this same guy will say the same thing a third time and we can all use that as validation of his opinion. I mean, when he said it once, I wasn't sure. Sure, twice was pretty convincing. But if he says the same thing a third time, watch out guys, it must be for real. Falling in love with a QB does nobody good, because love is blind.
This thread is living proof.

Pirk...how do you suggest we address the spot? You say there is no franchise QB in this draft...so are you suggesting we draft one late and run with what we have plus a late rounder...trade for a guy which rarely works out...or just keep letting draft after draft go by hoping that we get a QB that falls to us that can be a franchise guy we can get at this mysterious value level...I know Jungle Cat loves our current guys for some reason...but you have voiced an opinion before of not liking them...

He's either hoping for a once in a generation QB or the Jaguars winning the lotto and finding a Tom Brady. Problem is they call certain QBs "once in a generation" for a good reason, it just doesn't happen often. Even if one is available the Jaguars will never be bad enough to grab the guy barring a complete selling of the farm in a trade up. The other scenario requires the planets to align and lightning to strike a single blade of grass at Everbank field 1 million times in succession. We show less advertisements to registered users. You guys arguing Bridgewater being to skinny act like he won't put on weight when he gets to the NFL. Guarantee he puts on 10-20 IBS.

I say we draft QBs. I'd love to see us draft two this year. But you don't draft a QB if he's not the best player on your board with the third overall pick. If he is, fine.
