I'm on the Blake Bortles Bandwagon July2018!

#1

I think Bortles is going to have his best year yet.

Bortles did not get enough credit for what he did in the 2017 playoffs.  He elevated his play to another level and made Huge plays in both games.  Bortles playoff QB rating was a 91 with 3 tds, 0 ints, and rushed the ball 17 times (in 3 playoff gmaes) for an average of 7.1 yards per carry.  The most impressive part was he was doing this with no real threat at the WR potion,  No threat at Tight end, and a running game that was not consistent.  The best players shine brightest at the biggest moments and Bortles converted me in last years playoffs.  If it weren't for blind refs this team would of went to the superbowl with Bortles last year and who knows what would of happened.

Flip to 2018 and look at the additions:

+Stability for Blake Bortles.  He enters this season without the insane routine of learning a new system every year.
+Signed the big free mauler guard to help this running game.
+Finally got a Tight end that can run and be a threat in the passing game
+Upgraded the Wr position.  I still don't see a 1 but lots of teams do well with a few no 2 Wr's.

I am officially a Bortles fan.

Bortles has issues. He throws INTs, he's not overly accurate, and his deep passes wobble and float. That said, he's one of the toughest QBs in this league, he has a great feel for the pocket and the game, he's able to buy time to hit the deeper plays, and best of all, he's gold once he gets inside the red zone leaving no doubt he's going to score.

If he can carry over the type of play he had at the end of last season to this season, the hype will get deafening.

The "he throws INTs" is overblown. He doesn't throw any more than most QBs. Is he a single digit guy? Probably not, but few are.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

I'm a huge Bortles guy. Love the dude.

Sure he isn't perfect and I want some cleaner spirals with better accuracy ... but man I like the grit, and competitiveness he brings.

He also does a ton of stuff very well and is a starting caliber NFL QB.
You're Welcome.

As I said after the draft, I'm going to be a huge Bortles fan this season. He has to be our starting QB at least through 2020, because next year's QB crop is pitiful and there will be no help via free agency either. We've chosen to let everything ride on BB5 and I'm going to support him. I pray everything works in our favor.

Given the success of last season, it's easy to forget BB's game inconsistency. Remember? 2 games good, 1 or 2 games bad/meh. The Buffalo game was uuugly, but our defense and his legs pulled it out.

I have confidence he's improved his mechanics. Let's wait and see if the mental consistency has upgraded, as well.

Blake is by far the easiest person to root for that I have seen in a very long time. Takes all the jokes, some for good reason lets not lie, but never has said a word. Works his butt off every offseason. One of, if not the toughest QB in the league. A competitor who wants to win, and in losses pretty much always shoulders the blame to himself. Smart enough to use his legs when he knows his arm ain't doing it. Big team guy. Loves a cold brew. No troubles on or off the field. Has by far the best twitter page a fan made, the @BortlesFacts one... absolutely hilarious and factual.

Fairly confident to say there isn't a single Jag fan who roots against Blake, there's just a large group who rather have a different QB at the position based off of skill. Either way he is the QB this upcoming season and I know we all hope for the best.

I have the same feeling about Bortles this season for some reason. I think this is the year it all comes together for him. No new system to learn and he seemed to get it together in the playoff run last year. I just hope he stays healthy. We have NOTHING behind him if he goes down.

I actually have a little more faith in Kessler than I did in Henne, although that's not saying much at all. Kessler is definitely not a QB you want in the starting role for any significant time.

Anyone watch him in camp and have some feedback? I'm curious on how bad the wrist was last year. He had that one 3 game stretch that showed promise. I hope they can put it together and coach better in 2018.

I know, I hope I never have to use the phrase "Bortled again" again. LOL. I honestly like the guy, he seems like a really decent person, but damn his inconsistencies on field are annoying. I just have a good feeling about him this season. I hope it isn't just gas. LOL
