Jags trade back?

#21

I'm going in with no expectations this time around. Whatever they do in this offseason is when I'll pass judgement on David and his front office. Last year I wasn't happy with how they started out but it came together in the end. They've earned my respect enough that I'll let them do there thing this offseason and wait to see what happens in Sept. that said I expect to be competitive, anything less and this new regime has failed us.

Quote:Because the Browns might offer something even more attractive to Jax then the player they want.

The player we want is always more attractive than waiting a couple hours to make our first pick.

Quote:But if the Browns want the same player we do, why would we be willing to trade with them? That is a guarantee we will not pick who we want.
If the Jags covet the same player as the team behind them, in this case the Browns, the Jags would likely not make the trade unless the Browns offered a very compelling value (more perceived value than the player). Or, the Jags had another player on their board that they liked just as much and valued/ranked similarly, and they could get the other player of similar value on their board at pick #4 and pick up additional pick or picks.

I think if the Browns want the same player we do, they will leapfrog us by trading with the Rams, who don't need a quarterback.

The draft isn't just about one player. It's about strengthening your team as best you can.

I think we'll be competitive if we get Bridgewater, Manziel or Bortles. If we go other than a QB, and just go for building pieces, then we probably won't win more than 4 or 5 games. However, never discount the "Gus Factor"......he does well with less talent. Just look at the end of last season. We had the least talented roster IMO yet we finished higher than 2 and tied with 4 others.
