Trading with Cleveland - Browns reportedly willing to trade up for Johnny Football

#1

Rumor (in other words who really knows) is the Browns are willing to trade up for Manziel.  There reports of it last week and La Canfora is reporting it again.  http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/writer/jaso...-wish-list

 Here's my situation:

The Texans draft Clowney at 1, the Rams take Matthews at 2 (or a team trades up and takes Teddy), we sit at three with Manziel on the board.  Do you take a trade with Cleveland and let them take Manziel? I do.  What if they were to offer their first 3rd round pick, is that enough for you?  So we'd swap back to pick 4 and gain an extra 3rd.  I don't think that Manziel is the answer so I would be happy with that.  If Caldwell is set with Bridgewater and he's there at 4 you can pick him or hope that someone else is in love with him and trade back yet again (dream scenario for me) and stockpile.  I trust Caldwell's evaluation of Bridgewater and would be fine with him here or Caldwell trading back a 2nd time.

Would it take more than Cleveland's 3rd?  I think that's above value.  It would also give us the 6th and 7th pick in the third.

Thoughts? Ideas?  What would you do if Cleveland calls?

I think it's more likely that Cleveland trades with the rams than the jags

Why?  I don't see them as a threat to take Manziel and I don't see another team looking to trade up to 2 to pick him ahead of Cleveland.  I suppose it's possible but I don't think it's likely at all.

Except when Clowney or Bridgewater are sitting at #3.

How many weeks has it been now that I predicted on here that the Browns give both 1sts to jump us for Johnny?

Who is the "them" you're referring to here?

Because I think the threat would be us taking him at #3.

If we aren't going to take Manziel then I think a third would suffice. .Maybe throw a smoke screen and pretend we are very interested in Manziel and get a second instead. If we had two seconds...maybe we could reach on Garoppolo?

Any reports before the Pro Days is just speculation. What happens to all this talk when Manziel comes in at 5-10 and runs a 4.5? He becomes Julian Edelman.

But..but. .but Johnny Football would break if he was tackled by NFL defenderzzz.

All seriousness. .that is a very interesting point. I think he could do that if QB doesnt work. Both are ridiculously elusive

</blockquote>Teddy is not a top 3 pick, sorry. If we draft him i will stand behind the pick but i dont think Dave would draft him in the top 5

You don't trade with the team you think is going to take your player, you trade with the team in front of the team who is going to take your player.

The insinuation is that Cleveland will be spooked into thinking we want Manziel, and thus jump in front of us.

I've been thinking...Manziel is an intriguing prospect but I think the Jaguars would pass on him if Bridgewater is still on the board, meaning he would still be available to Cleveland and they won't have to trade up. The 2nd pick is still the wildcard so what if either the Raiders or Vikings traded up to 2 to get Bridgewater?

I would take both of Clevelands 1sts to let them have Manziel. Then we would set the bar so high that Rams wouldn't want to trade their pick for less, thus preventing the Raiders from doing a trade up. Yeah let them have Johnny, but make em pay..
